I personally like both shows... but there is no doubt in my mind that LOST is a better show in every aspect. HEROES no doubt is a very good show which steals most of its formula from LOST (which has redefined the TV DRAMA forever) LOST is an amazing, rare show which most don't realize until it is over.

I enjoy both shows but don't see the any really outstanding similaraties other then the whole "where all connected" or "things happen for a reason" type deals. I do prefer lost 1) it is a veteran 2) much more fun, and longer to theorize how things will work out...heroes can at times be predictable when theorizing..like the finale i had it figured out that nathan would fly his brother away..as for lost's finale a total mind f*ck (pardon my french but it truly was..lol)(the best season finale i have seen in years)

you really cant compare them for the simple fact..they're telling to different stories. Except for the power of the human mind, heart and will. Lost tweeks your brain, while Heroes lifts it with it's infinite imagination. To me they are both good for TV in a world of reality TV...I get enough reality from life. I need the fiction to balance it out.

Two great shows. Two of the best story telling vehicles ever on broadcast tv. As mentioned in the article each show has its own niched. If we're comparing the two though, Lost is denser, more complicated, more confusing, and more frustrating, but in my opinion ultimately more rewarding.

There is no contest here, although the shows are different Lost is better. It's a stimulation of the mind. You go through so many emotions while watching just one episode. It's also a hell of a lot more intelligent. Heroes is good as a comic book adaptation but nothing that will be remembered.

Great article Jon. It was very much in the vein of what I had been thinking. To be honest, I think Heroes really started to fall apart after the hiatus. Why did the Petrelli mother suddenly go from supportting Peter to being part of a grand conspiracy. What was Linderman's power, the ability to point a gun and die? How did Jessica/Nicki learn to quickly co-exist? The finale...save the cheerleader so that she can change Nathan's mind? As you can see the problems have nothing to do with production, but story. As a writer you build parameters of logic that your fans agree to follow. When you break those parameters you risk alienating your fans. Even when Lost is "off" it stays within the logic it has created. Heroes has another season to work out the kinks.

Although I enjoy watching Heroes, I enjoy Lost 10x more cos it stimulates my intellect a lot more. Thsnk God, Lost doesn't revolve round some teen charachters,'cept for Walt. So Heroes's for the kidz while Lost is more mature & complex. Lost gets my vote

Depends what you're looking for. If you want to watch a great hour of TV, then stay up all night (and all week) poring over the details of your show only to get all of your ideas shot down in the next episode, then you want Lost. If you want to be entertained then go to bed, then you want Heroes. If I had to watch only one every week, I'd pick Heroes for the short term, but I'd buy the Lost DVDs for the long haul.
