Emma was introduced as deaf but now, she can all of a sudden, talk with people. Maybe not perfect speech, but still, deaf people can not be *that* good with lip reading... Your thoughts?

dude, she's a deaf actress. deaf people can read lips and many can communicate verbally and through signing. her aptitude at lip reading depends on how long she has been doing it. She said a couple episodes ago that she sometimes misreads or misinterprets what people are saying. It just sounds like you're short-changing her.

According to the wikipedia site, "It has been estimated that only 30% to 40% of sounds in the English language are distinguishable from sight alone" I know that anyone can edit wikipedia but a simple search on google yeiled similar results... It seems Emma can almost lip read everything... Even Hiros... Even though she did have *some* trouble...

70% of communication is non-verbal. body signals evoke whatever message she needs to "hear." if that doesn't sway you then... she knows what they're saying because it's convenient. it's not the worst crime a show can commit.
