Television actors have a lot of time on their hands these days.  Some have scooped up film roles (they're the lucky ones), others are taking long vacations, but some, like Heroes' Hayden Panettiere, have decided to take a stand on what they believe in.  Panettiere is an official spokeswoman for the Save the Whales Again campaign and just last week spoke at a Downtown Washington, DC demonstration to show her support for the fair and humane treatment of whales.  The main perpetrator of whale slaughtering is Japan and Panettiere said of the situation: "Not only are these animals being cruelly slaughtered, the meat is contaminated by huge levels of mercury.”

It's awesome that she's saving the whales. Usually the only people who try to save the whales don't appeal to young people like Hayden does. Good for her !
Come check out my thoughts on Claire from heroes

the video of hayden crying after the dolphin incident last year brought tears to my eyes. i'm an animal lover too and donated $ to save the whales again after i saw that video.

Australia, NZ, and Greenpeace have been trying to stop whaling for years with not much luck. Any extra exposure to what is going on will help and hopefully eventually lead to the Japanese excuse that its for 'research' being mute. I've always admired Hayden. Good on her.
