How is Peter going to discover his "unknown" powers?

Hi,

I wonder how Peter will discover all the powers he has got from Sylar and other people he don't even know about, for example he could have just melt that metal door into liquid at the end of the second season, instead of freezing it till it broke...

i believe that peter first must see the power, then he can copy. and i think he telekinetically opened the door

I think Peter's powers are limited to either those used in his presence (except for the Haitian), or those that are genetically fused with that person's DNA...I don't think Sylar's powers are in his DNA rather he has stolen a part of the person's brain and added it to his....or whatever the hell he does.

Fine....if the powers are not there there is nothing to discover so he won't.

obviously peter can get sylar's stolen powers, he has telekinesis which sylar stole! And he doesn't need to see the person use the power, when he met sprague, he just lit up right away. Also, I think peter will just randomly use the other powers them, when he used elle's power for the first time, he had lost his memory and had no idea what his powers were, yet he randomly shot lightning at people.

P.S. Peter is an idiot, why did he open the door with telekinesis, he couldn't possibly have forgotten that he could walk through walls.
