The wasted gift of Gabriel Gray I was thinking about Sylar today, no not in that way...about his power. In most stories I read or see I am always interested in the villain as much as any other character. Many times the villain is the most interesting one anyway. I began to think about how cool Sylar's natural ability is: Intuitive Aptitude. The ability to understand complex systems with no training or education. Obviously Sylar used it to become "special", but he was so blind to see that he already was special. Now perhaps if Dr. Suresh, the elder, knew what his ability was things would have been much different...but consider for a moment the practical application of Sylar's gift. He would be the king of industry. He could instantly diagnose problems with any machine, manufacturing process, power generation concepts(Nuclear Reactors, Geo-Thermal plants), and possibly even intangible systems such as corporate or military organizational effeciency. He could develop new forms of clean energy, more sustainable manufacturing processes, more efficient traffic flow concepts for major cities...he would be the ultimate engineer. He would have become the most sought-after business consultant in the world. Too bad he decided to become a serial killer instead. |
