| ULURU: I saw some posts about this that were from several months back and I wanted to bring it up again. I recently researched the term "Uluru" and learned that it was the Aboriginal word for Ayer's Rock. I already knew a bit about the legend of the "dreamtime" and Ayer's Rock's connection with it. I did some further reading and came up with a few interesting musings. During the "dreamtime", which was a period in the ancient past long before the creation of life as we know it, giant semi-human creatures roamed the featureless landscape of Earth. Their activities, chronicled in many Aboriginal stories, helped to form the physical features we see in nature, and ultimately led to the creation of the many forms of life now present on the planet. The legends concerning Uluru are many and it is said to contain a record of the stories of the dreamtime. Though I don't know exactly what the significance of Uluru is in the show I did have another idea about the origin of the Heroes. Perhaps the Hereos share some kinship with these ancient dreamtime creatures. Could the dreamtime creatures have somehow passed on genetic material? Could there affect on the development of human life been similar to their effect on the landscape in Aboriginal stories? Could they have passed on their powers in some other mystical way? I will continue to do more reading on the subject and look forward to what others may contribute to this concept. Mr. Deveaux: I have seen posts linking Uluru with Deveaux, but I'm not going there. I want to throw out a theory about what his ability might be. While watching the finale I was wondering what exactly was hapening in the scene between Mr. Deveaux and Peter. At first I thought, maybe it's just a hallucination/dream sequence in which Peter's subconscious mind is providing him with some sort of needed inner dialogue. Then I thought maybe he had absorbed Hiro's time travel ability and traveled back in time to talk to Deveaux. But then I thought...what if Mr Deveaux has the ability to operate on the astral plane? He could have traveled to find Peter on the astral plane in the future in order to influence events. Perhaps he also some sort of remote viewing/remote influencing abilities? Perhaps his spirit was able to ascend to this plane upon death and he retains some ability to interact with the physical world? Love to hear everyone's ideas. |

| More thinking on Uluru: As I posted previously Uluru is said to contain a history of the stories of the dreamtime. What if, in the world of Heroes, Uluru(be it literally Ayer's Rock or something else) contains or comprises the source of all these powers. Yes there is a scientific element to this show, Mohinder and Chandra Suresh seeking out the genome markers which indicate mutants. However, there is most certainly also a mystical quality to this saga as well. What if Uluru(the being we see in the comics) is the last remaining Dreamtime creature which may or may not exist in the physical realm...and from this creature flows all of these powers. Lots of speculation, I know, but I enjoy exploring these many possibilities. |
