It has both comedy and drama.i enjoy this show every time when it is on tv.

i still feel it's more drama infused with some comedic elements (but don't all shows have that?)

the reason being that the main thing driving the plot is the drama between characters and each hospital case...compare it to comedies like scrubs where the main thing is to put a funny spin on everything...well...it's easier to see which is the one with more drama.

I agree with nancy12. It is both drama and comedy. Hence, a dramedy.

GA is effective in both genre because i think, personally, that since it has a hospital setting, one can easily infuse drama to the plot, given the seriousness of the medical profession per se as well as the illnesses presented in each episode. This being said, the slightest attempt at comedy in the same serious setting would have an immediate effect on the viewer, that is, tickling our funny bones.
