Kate Burton and Ellen Pompe, Grey's AnatomyIn honor of Mother's Day, BuddyTV has compiled this list of our 10 favorite motherly moments.

This one is probably a bit cruel, and is most likely on this list because of my general distaste for Meredith Grey as a character, but no greater motherly moment came on Grey's Anatomy than when Ellis Grey (Kate Burton) temporarily recovered from her Alzheimer's only to be horrified by the fact that her once-driven daughter has settled for being a content intern dating a doctor.

Not the best mother but still wanting her daughter to be the best is still a good quality to have.

So she snaps back from Alzheimer's and the first thing she does is berate her daughter? I kind of love it.

I liked this episode. It was very dramatic. Alzheimers is a tricky thing and Kate Burton played it well.

Yeah, maybe not the best mom moment, but by utter contempt for Meredith as a character tinted this decision, and Ellis in this episode voiced everything I wanted to say.

This was what made me start liking Meredith more. I could relate to a Mother (StepMother) who never thought her daughter was quite good enough. Piper Laurie is amazing actress and this was a turning point in the show for me.

Maybe it was the Alzheimers talking, but at least she had the guts to say to her daughter what so many parents never do - You can do better. I think eventually Merideth will be that driven daughter again, she just has a lot she needs to work through.

I think both Ellen and Kate did a fanominal job in this! It may have been mean but it is a very memorable moment in television.
