Patrick Dempsey and Ellen Pompeo star in Grey's AnatomyViewers who are rooting for Grey's Anatomy's supercouple can rest easy.  It seems the Emmy-winning medical drama is serving up some more MerDer in the upcoming season, as series creator Shonda Rhimes says she really can't picture Derek (Patrick Dempsey) with anybody else.

"I want to be clear that Derek loves Meredith," Rhimes told TV Guide's Michael Ausiello.  "Derek loves Meredith [Ellen Pompeo] more than anything and I can't imagine Derek going anyplace else other than Meredith."

The issue is not whether Meredith and Derek are back together in season four. They are the key couple to Grey's Anatomy since the day we were introduced to them in the first season. The problem was (in paticular in season thre) the very LAZY way the writers/creator handled them. If you choose to bring these two wonderful actors together as the couple Meredith and Derek and then just forget how to write well for them (or in the case of the scattered storylines of S3) stop caring, then so will the fans. I'm' okay with them being together. They are lovely. But if you are going to give me a repeat of Mer/Der in season three, then I'd rather not have them together thank you very much. Any problems for Mer/Der last season rests completely on the uninspired writing of the show and not the tv couple.

I can't say that I would watch Grey's Anatomy (which I absolutely love) if Derek and Merideth were going to split.

I love the ensemble cast telling a good story every week. As long as the story is good, plausible, told in an entertaining (elements of drama and comedy) way what does it matter if two characters don't kiss that episode? The characters need to evolve in a believable way (not change every week) and if that brings MerDer, or even Gizzie (who I personally don't like) together then that's great. But it's more important that a believable hospital drama (not with skewed timelines and stupid doctor/patient love crap) unfolds with some personal stuff as time allows (how much time do busy interns/first-year residents have for their personal lives anyway?).

Hello, Shonda never said Gizzie was ending just that they were not the love story of the century, and who is on that show? That doesn,t mean she is dropping them. We know a lot of fans don't love them (a lot do though, me included) and we know other characters will have a bad reaction to them, Shonda said all this weeks ago.

As for Derek loving Meredith, one word : DUH!

Why is this being billed as spoilers, those are all things Shonda has said before and we know. Derek loving Meredith does not mean they will have more airtime or happiness. They never had problem with the love part, they ahd troubles staying together and I don't see that changing.

As for Gizzie, none of us fans ever thought it would be easy for them to be together. Their situation is messy, everything about it, but they love each other and I have hope they will end up together, even if it takes a long time to get there.

I love George and Izzie and I am not discouraged by what Shonda has said. Gizzie is polarized (half the people love them; the other hate them). Katherine Heigl said twice already this week she thought the Gizzie story was interesting because everyone was either in love with Gizzie or hated it completely, and she loved stories that had everyone talking.

Shonda once said she'd rather do a story that had everyone talking about it,l eithe rloving it or hating it (and everyone either loevs or hates those two, not much in between) than a story noone cared about at all.

And after seeing the new Grey video clip where we get two almost george and Izzie kiss, and have all those Gizzie scenes, I am feeling pretty hopeful. Why give a couple so much airtime in the Grey video if you are dropping them so soon? Makes no sense!

Yep, I read that katie interview. She seems to love George and Izzie together, and said her goal if George and Izzie were to continue would be to convert all the Gizzie haters into lovers.

I love that, she is really invested in that couple.

I think they ahd filmed six episodes by that time, so I have a feeling the triangle is going to last all season.

George and Izzie are far from perfect and their love is angsty and complicated and imperfect and painfull, but hey that is what love is most of the time. Shonda does not do roses and butterflies and I fully expect George and Izzie to have the whole MerDer-Addison treatment from season 2.

I really love those two so I wish they could get together right away. I love how they smile at each other, makes my heart do the flip-flop. They are by far the best thing to ever happen on this show and if Shonda is smart, she will hold on to them.

Wow, you actually acknowledged us Gizzie fans, faints in shock. It always annoys me that while it seems there is 50% of the fanbase who loves this couple, certain sites always mention the haters. All my friends and I are HUGE Gizzie fans and there are a lot of us on the Net too.

Those two have a really passionate, loyal fanbase which would not appreciate it if Sjhonda just dropped this couple after making them fall in love with them.

But I am not that worried about the Aussiello thing. Like someone said above, Shonda held the same little speech about Gizzie weeks ago and Aussiello thought back then too it was a death certificate.

In fact, he sounds like a brojken record saying they are over all the time and thinking everyone would be happy about it. He is either stupid or delusional or doesn't cventure out of TWOP-land if he thinks that!
