Grey's Anatomy: The End of Gizzie, and more 'Grey's' Tidbits

Shonda Rhimes had a lot to answer for after Grey's Anatomy's third season left countless fans disappointed. The show got far too dark and depressing during the second half of the season, which was all compounded by the ill-fated hook-up between friends George (T.R. Knight) and Izzie (Katherine Heigl), which threw George's marriage into doubt. Thankfully for the loyal fans, Rhimes isn't being stubborn, but listening to the complaints and making changes accordingly. She has already stated in various interviews that season four will be lighter in tone, and that she's going to let her characters be, you know, happy. At least sometimes. Yesterday, Michael Ausiello at TV Guide broke a very nice piece of spoilery news that may just signal a quick end to “Gizzie” right at the outset of season four:

No more Jane Doe - that story is so over!
Like Elizabeth Reesor but hated the whole doctor/patient [again] thing.

OMG they're getting rid of Gizzie but bringing Jane Doe back? wth......that just shattered my excitement for the first episode.....

I know quite a few people who will be quite upset if, and I do mean if, Gizzie ends. I find Ausiello's sources recently suspect. But we shall soon see.

Im happy theres no more George and Izzie but coz deep dpwn im still hooked on Izzie and Alex I dont want Jane Doe back! And its kinda old since the doctor/patient thing happened to Izzie. But at least no more Gizzie. I loved their platonic friendship.

I LOVE JANE DOE, I THINK ALEX NEEDS SOME ONE TOO. AND IZZIE WITH GEORGE I THOUGHT IT PLAYED RIGHT INTO THE SHOW.. WHAT IS MAKING ME WANT TO VOMIT IS ALEXIS GREY. I MEAN COME ON, WHAT IS THE POINT OF THESE UPS AND DOWNS IF YOU NEVER LET US LIKE THE UPS. FROM DAY ONE THE WORLD WANTED MARIDITH AND DARK TO GET TOGETHER BUT IT IS SO RARE THAT THEY ARE BOTH IN IT AT THE SAME TIME, SHE WANTS HIM HE DONT WANT HER THEN HE WANTS HER SHE DONT WANT HIM. I AM SO OVER IT BRING BACK MCVET ANS LET THE DREAMSTER BE HEART BROKRN FOR A CHANGE........

Ausiello's "scoop" on George and Izzie is an opinion, not actual spoiler. He doesn't actually know anything. I for one think they're pretty great and Grey's will SUCK if he stays with Callie.

I like Callie's character more than Izzie. I loved Izzie season 1 and 2 but she's becoming this caricature and such a different person. I know people grow but if you look at the beginning of the show until now it's a 180-degree turn, and not in a good way. However, I don't think George and Callie can get back to the fun couple they used to be... so maybe it's best he move on with Izzie. Though Gizzie were so much better as friends.
That's how I feel about Jane Doe/Alex - fun as friends but no chemistry, not like he had with both Izzie and then Addison. Alex needs someone he has hotness with, NOT Jane Doe. Too bad Addie is leaving.
Hope Jane/Ava/Rebecca goes for good after the first epi of s4.
