Edward Hermann, veteran actor perhaps best known for his work on Gilmore Girls, is set to appear in the new season of Grey's Anatomy.  Hermann was a fixture on The CW's Gilmore Girls as patriarch Richard Gilmore, appearing in all seven season of the show.  ABC hasn't released much information on Hermann's character on Grey's Anatomy, but it appears that he will be playing a doctor for at least three episodes.

Hermann has had a long and distinguished career in film and television.  Just take a look at this ridiculous filmography: The Great Gatsby, M*A*S*H*, Reds, St. Elsewhere, Annie, The Purple Rose of Cairo, The Lost Boys, Law & Order, Oz, and The Aviator.  Hermann even won an Emmy in 1999 for a guest role he had on David E. Kelley's The Practice.  Unfortunately, however, I will always personally identify him as Macaulay Culkin's dad in Richie Rich.

I'd like to see him play a doctor on Grey's. I have only seen him on Gilmore Girls so it would be nice to see him on another show I love. I think he'll do great because I can see him doing both(snotty and grandfatherly). Can't wait to see him on Grey's. ^.^

I'm kind of disappointed with the Grey's Casting Dept. on this one - I think it's too soon to have this actor on another show - I'm still going to think of him as Rory's grandfather and Lorelai's dad from Gilmore Girls.

But more so, I'm not sure that he really fits into the framework that is Grey's - even if it is for just a few episodes. Maybe I'll be proven wrong.

I think he'll be a good addition.
Just heard Ava/Rebecca is coming back - totally ruined my day - I hated that storyline! If I end up watching season 4, which is iffy, I'll definitely be fast-forwarding through all her scenes. The character and the acting were OK, I just hated her storyline, especially with Karev. If they go from buddies to a couple it will be worse than George and Izzie. Yuck!
