The Isaiah Washington debacle started looking a lot like the Alberto Gonzales flap today when Shonda Rhimes, Grey's Anatomy creator and show runner, finally opened up full throttle on the topic of Washington's departure from the show.   The press in attendance still hasn't figured out the difference between not being offered a renewal and being fired, but Shonda Rhimes is suddenly singing a slightly different tune.  Something to the melody of,  “I did it my way.”

This is so much garbage. She is walking the party line and trying to get us to buy it. It wasn't until after the Golden Globes that there started to be story line questions about whether Burke was being too controlling of Cristina and turning her into his "painted doll". Prior to that it was clear she was growing as a person because of Burke's love for her. Shonda herself hinted at a marriage, not just a wedding and Isaiah said there would multiple marriages in season 3. I don't buy at all that they planned to break up this extraordinary couple all along. If so, it certainly does not make any sense. I am so disappointed in Shonda Rhimes. ABC didn't take the high road. They threw Isaiah to the wolves and in the process have the public questioning his integrity. At least she acknowledged that he is a talented actor. At this point not one word coming out of ABC regarding the entire debacle of IW's firing can be believed. They have lost this viewer forever.

I am not sure if they got rid of Dr. Burke because they had planned to do it or if they just did what they had to do. I will miss Dr.Burke on the show but I think Isaiah Washington got what he deserved. I love T.R. Knight and I'm glad he is going to be back next season. This show has so many great actors.I love Grey's Anatomy!!

Hey Isaiah, with a friend like Shonda you sure don't need all the enemies you've developed through this nonsense. You may have deserved not to get your contract renewed by breaching your "gag order" but you don't deserve to have a knife in your back by someone you've said nothing but great things about. She's full of it.

T R Knight is great!!!!!!!!!!! I love that guy and he is a big reason a watch Grey's. Some people that post these comments are so angry and rude - just like Isaiah Washington. He is a great actor so maybe on his next show he will just learn to keep his mouth shut!

Ok...He said it. If T.R. had used the N word...Isaiah would have been first to shout! If people could just keep their mouth shut. He made this worse for himself..kept this going. The slur was enough, then he kept bringing it up over and over...
Sorry to see the character go, but the man? I'm not so sure!
