Grey's Anatomy's Heigl Gives Co-Star T.R. Knight the Gift of Dog

In case you didn't know, T.R. Knight of Grey's Anatomy recently celebrated his birthday - Happy Birthday T.R.! - and co-star Katherine Heigl (Izzie) surprised her on screen closet beau with a puppy dog. T.R. was thrilled with the new addition, named Ebony. To up the cool factor, Ebony was rescued from an animal shelter in Nebraska which Heigl and her family help to support.

I always thought that giving someone a pet for a present was a really weird thing to do. Pets are such a huge responsibility it's just strange to elect that for someone else without their input. It's like those Lexus commercials where one spouse surprises the other with a new Lexus for Christmas. Seriously? I would freak out if my wife surprised me with a $50k+ present we hadn't thoroughly discussed.
