| The more I think about last week's Grey's Anatomy episode the less it works for me. I've been pondering this whole "double proposal thing" thing and, let's face it, it's about as gimmicky as you can get. I understand where Grey's is coming from. Usually, proposals on prime time dramas are major events, with huge build-ups that the audience will see coming from a mile away. So, Grey's, as it is wont to do, knocked convention on its ass and decided to give its audience two concurrent marriage proposals coming completely out of nowhere. My initial reaction was, "Cool, that's different. Never seen that before." But, after a week, I've changed my mind. Even if something is unconventional and original, it can also be a gimmicky stunt. Which is bad. The spoilers below give us some insight below into what the answers/ramifications of the proposals will be. I assumed that one would say yes, the other no. There's no way both say yes; that'd be too happy for a show like Grey's Anatomy. It's hard to like Burke these days, so I hope he gets denied. George and Callie are a couple I can root for, however. | That's ok because it isn't about what you like...its about the fans of the show and what they have invested in. This is after all a show for the chicks written by chicks...so you don't need to get it. You don't need to like Burke...just that IW infuses in him the character of Burke and Burke is credible to the fans that follow his character in this show. After all 21 million fans that watch Grey's Anatomy and appreciate the moments created by Shonda and company know exactly what they want to see. So it's all GOOD for us. |
