| ![]() The Last Five Minutes... Episode Rating: 3 out of 5 stars Episode Overview: George, Izzy, and Addison work on a girl who has a cervical tumor and estranged Puritan parents. Callie and Cristina work on a man who hurt his knee while running, but it turns into a more serious situation. Dr. Webber announces his plans to retire, and the residents scurry around trying to get to him first to convince him they're the right doctor to fill his shoes. Episode Highlights: The first five minutes with Naked George, the last five minutes with everyone else, and a brief conversation in the middle between Callie and Cristina, exchanging minor insults with one another. Recap: Last week the previews told us the last five minutes of the show were the ones to watch. I'm gonna go ahead and say that they were semi-shocking, semi-plot-driven, and semi-expected. | Last week's episode was wonderful. The most shocking part to me was that Cristina was the first to talk. I had truly believed Burke would have cracked first. I knew that Dr. Webber had wanted Dr. Bailey to be cheif but I think Burke will get it. I rally hope Burke and Cristina get married, and also George and Callie. I know that Karev really likes Addison but he is pretending not to. I can't wait to see what happens next week. |

| Let me delve on the Burke-Yang relationship. I can understand why Burke is attracted to Yang. I suspect that her attraction to Burke is well calculated. While she has invested a little of emotion in to the relationship, I am sure Burke's surgical chops is what dictates her relationship with the man. She is clearly in love with the doctor, and not the man. And this relationship will go nowhere. It is ill-fated, like the one between Dr. Webber and Alyson Grey. The latter drove Webber to alcholism because she too was a driven heart surgeon too focused on her carreer. We also know from episode 14 that Dr. Webber would have left his wife to be with Grey. But he knew better and made the right decision to stay put with Adelle. So, that is how tv drama works. Create an improbable relationship, window-dress it for a resonable shelf life, and discard it in due time for dramatic effect. It keeps the audience tuned in like junkies. Who wants to see perfect relationships. They are boring. |
