Sorry Sis!

Keep watching!! Things change. I hated Blair at first but now I kind of like her. I'm gonna look at Adia post I obviously never responded to now!

And you totally remind me of Serena--minus the drugs and stuff.

Whoops! How did I miss this!

Anytime she messes up he's right there to point out her mistakes and judge her on it. And I'm not saying that it's wrong for Dan to want his girlfriend to be this "perfect girl" but it's not realistic and it's not fair for him to persecute her when she doesn't live up to that. Who could, you know?
Dan puts Serena on a pedastol and he thinks about her as this creature, this object of his affection the girl of his dreams who if he could just get her to notice him...

...and then he does get her, he gets the girl and he gets her to take notice of him and I think because of the way he has kind of objectified her in the past, he has this ideal person he expects and I don't think that is fair. Its like he thought once he could get her to fall in love with him everything would turn around for them and she'd be what he always idealized, but thats not Serena. Maybe she did change her life around, but the life she lives, the friends she has, they are still a part of her and Dan doesn't like that part and he makes it very apparent when anything concerning that part of her life infringes upon their perfect little relationship. He holds her up to a standard no one should be held up to. I know I'm a good person, but I'm no where near perfect and if Heath expected me to be perfect there would be serious problems. And the most aggravating thing about it all is its almost like reverse discrimination. They discriminate against him because he doesn't have money so he just discriminates back and that doesn't help the people like Serena who are trying to bridge that gap.

In the beginning I bought into the whole once-wild-but-now-reformed stuff but I figured she'd have a relapse and I was excited to see her acting out. We had a glimpse of her drunken state in Blair Waldorf Must Pie, that Thanksgiving ep. But she wasn't horrible in that...just drunk and loose and flirty. I wanted to see her really drunk and drugged out...barely able to walk, so coked up that she's ready to screw any and everybody, vomiting in her hair (as they claimed she used to do), being belligerent and unruly. I needed to see that...not for a long time but I needed to see it for at least an ep or two. But they never really went there and for a show as scandalous as Gossip Girl is, or should I say claims to be, they really should've taken Serena to that point. It almost makes me feel like they didn't want to mar the "All-American girl" thing Serena's got going on now. So with all of that...the fact that Serena at her "worst" still wasn't that bad, it makes Dan look even more of an a** for the ways he treated her. Plus, it really makes me think differently of Serena that she hasn't said anything to Dan - she sort of puts him up on this pedestal as if he's this great boyfriend and she has to be "good" for him yet doesn't deserve him because she's got this dark, bad past. Her past isn't that bad (I've done worse crap than she's done and I'd never let a guy make me feel like I was beneath him or like my mistakes defined me as a person). I really hope Dan grows up next season and Serena grows a backbone.
I wanted to see that too. Wanted to see Serena slip back into her old self because as much as we try and run away from the person we are, its so easy to just let go, even for a couple nights.

But yeah, Serena is all perfect and maybe drinks a little bit, but she's a good girl now and she's trying really hard to maintain that. Which...okay fine. They sooo could have gone there but they didn't.

I think a big problem I have with Serena's storyline is they act like OMG this is the worst thing ever and well...with the exception of the drugs, it really wasn't all that bad. They built something up and they said 'omg what do we do so that Serena is still blame free but we can shock everyone'. They should have made Serena guilty or gone for something else. Maybe she bought the drugs from someone she didn't know and those were what killed the guy. Something more than the cope out that happened because that is exactly what I think the ending was, a huge, Serena is our heroine so she can't do anything that is unforgivable.

As far as her putting Dan on a pedastol, I think that all ties into her weird, extreme sense of guilt. She feels like a horrible person deep inside. That she has done unforgivable things and that she's tainted. I can understand those feelings, they could have played on them more, but yeah, Dan never deserved the praise she heaped on him. He wasn't ever a really good boyfriend. He was judgemental of her and her friends and he was always so ready to just wash his hands of her if she did anything that was wrong and I dont think Serena ever deserved that.

But I felt like we needed a Vanessa to enter into the picture to flesh out Dan more - to see things from the outsider side and to get a glimpse into what his world is like. Plus Vanessa is just such a kick a** girl, you know. Dude, I love that about her. She can take on Blair and Chuck without blinking and isn't intimidated by them in the least. And she can be that voice of reason for Dan when he's being an idiot. They so need to flesh a storyline out for her though.
My reaction to Vanessa was a groan because her reasoning to be there was very obviously to stir the pot. When that whole thing resolved itself and they made Vanessa a character and not an obsticle I started growing warm to her. I think her character was interesting. I hope she continues to be a part of the show in her own right.

I know that technically speaking both Jenny and Blair treated people badly when they "reigned" but Blair still had a quality about her that made her likable, underneath all of that. Jenny, on the other hand, just became more and more despicable to me. She even went off on Rufus and Dan. B*tch. LOL
I liked that Jenny got out of that situation and she showed Blair that she could do it, but yeah, she turned into this really dislikable person. And the thing about it was, being Queen B was Blairs life. It was what she knew how to do. She was given the tools to be who she was and maybe it wasn't a perfect person, but it was something she worked hard for and had taken the time to build.

With Jenny, it was like she was a little girl playing dress up and trying to be all bad ass when she didn't have that true fire inside of her. There is nothing wrong with not being a cut throat person, but Jenny couldn't see that. She became obsessed with being Blair that she let everything that was good about her go to the wayside if that makes any sense. I liked her for awhile because I could identify with her kind of outsiderness. I could understand her little mini crush she totally had on Nathan. But the person she became was so fake and unlikeable. I'd like she see a change in her next season. She needs to be more geniune and find herself.

Jenny is a pretty girl, obviously. She was sweet enough to get Nate attention. Girl wasn't doing too badly. Her big brother was dating one of the most popular girls in school. Maybe she wasn't rich, but she was a pretty, blonde pettie thing with connections. She was also a freshman. If she had just let things happen organically she could have probably become a part of that crowd herself. And without being all shady and lying because how could people not realize that Dan was her brother. All the rich kids seemed to know he wasn't rich, they would have figured it out that neither is Jenny.

*palm over eyes* I'm not reading!!! lalala lol
I really REALLY love Serena so that's quite a compliment fro me! Thank you....I didn't see anything regarding drugs and her yet, so
I'm DLing the last five eps, and will watch them later, so hopefully later when I see them all I'll be able to comment everything......if I'll be able lol
I have to say again that Nate is a sweetie I feel so sorry for him most of the time.
I actually don't have a problem with Dan and his behavior...he comes from such a different place from all those kids, he's just trying to keep his head above the surface.
Little J is scary sometimes! lol And as for Blair, I think she deserves all that happens to her. I'm sorry but a few moments of compassion can't make up for the fact that she is EVIL! I don't care what her reasons are.
Chuck on the other hand.....I really love to hate the guy, but at moments I get this feeling of compassion for him....eww lol and what he said to Blair how she was left rode hard and put out wet...Jesus Christ, I'm chilling again! I mean DUDE!! I don't even have words for that!

I really like the show! I was surprised by just how much I like it And I'm glad I didn't watch it earlier. Now I got something new to watch
And did I mention the soundtrack?!?! Oh my GAWD!!! This show has the most amazing songs in it!!! I never heard Angels and Airwaves before (not even for Matt Wachter lol) and then I hear The Gift! It's the single most amazing song I've heard in a while! And it so fitted the last scene from the pilot, and Photograph by Air for Serena/Nate flashback!! *melts* oooohhhh

Ok, leaving now lol, going to lunch at mom's, and then I'll watch the rest and come back to read what you guys wrote

*edits self* I have to add....Lily broke my heart, her and Rufus should totally get back together...and her not doing that for Serena was so selfless *cries* it broke my poor little heart I tell ya....
Btw the way they shoot the scenes mixing flashbacks with the present - LOVE it!

Georgina.....sh!t, watching Michelle as Dawn kinnda gave me a feel about the actress, so this was a shock to me. Chuck is a ball of sunshine compared to her, my stomach is literally in a knot!
Ok off to watch the rest, and coming back soon!

LOL Sis you crack me up.

For me, Blair came from a very different place than like I did and so seeing this person in her natural environment, seeing her parents push her to be something, I think I understand more why she is the way she is. I don't think I'm explaining myself correctly but I just think Blair lives in a different world with a different set of rules and she does what she needs to survive.

Dan bothers me a lot. I mean I like him, but I've been that kid whose family doesn't have a lot of money and that never excused me from being a judgemental ass. I feel like I'm supposed to route for Dan, but he just has too much morale superiority.

And I just like Vanessa a lot! And Nate a lot! Don't know about together, but I'm certainly not against it.

OK! It's like this! I just spent one hour writing about my overall review of the show, and now my head hurts! (I started with Chuck....I'm on total overload) I deleted everything coz I hated how I delivered everything! So I'm gonna try like this:

Chuck - The most interesting character of the show. Complete bastart? Sometimes, very much so. Misunderstood with a heart of gold? I wouldn't go that far, BUT yes. He is the definition of shades of gray! Betrays his best friend by sleeping with his GF, insults Blaire so much that even *I* felt sorry for her, tries to force himself on Jenny and Serena, but on the other hand saves Nate from mobsters, saves Serena repetedly when Georgina reenters her life, is the only person in Eric's life who treats him like he's not made of glass.
He's loyality has no bouderies, coz his friends, not matter of the current situation are his family! He grew up with a cold man....he obvioulsy doesn't have a mother, for what have reason, so thank God he is like he is, nad not worse.....I have to stop coz my head is starting to hurt again.

Serena- bad girl turned good. My absolute fav character....and then she leets me down when Georgina comes back. I was really mad at her coz she didn't trust Dan enough to tell him, like anything! She didn't have to tell him about the guy that overdosed, she easily could have left that out, and tell him the rest. But, she has trust issues....I don't agree with you guys about Dan, but I will get into that later.
Serena made a bunch of really bad choices at the end of the season, but if she didn't we probably wouldn't be as interested in watching, lol. I really love her story with Dan, I believe he is the best thing that happened to her in a loooooong while. Made her step out from the blinding neon lights into the sunlight. She sabotaged that relationship with not trusting him, and even when he came to get her at Blair's she had the oportunty to say something...ANYthing, and she chose to lie! And what a lie it was! She says that she slept with someone else, and Dan naturally said that he is DONE! I would be too! Coz I'm sorry! But he knew how she was before, and I'm sorry too, but he NEVER judged her for it. He loved her from a far for years, watching her being a drunk and possibly high slut, and he was still in love wth her. And for her lying to him for weeks, and then saying something like that? I'm sorry again but I would be done even if she didn't say that. She chose to hide behind Blair, Nate and Chuck, and drew a line between her and Dan. I completely condone his reaction! I do not however condone him runing of to Georgina/Sarah, and making out with her!! lol
So, Serena hon, as much as I love you, you have a lot to learn about trust.

Blair - OK, seriously, she need a good spanking. Over the knees, panties dow, bare ass spanking with a ruler - and no kink in it! Spoiled and MEAN little brat. The way she acted when Serena returned was awful at best! She was a total b!tch.
So by the end of the season when Serena came to her for help, she was all "we're sisters...blah" I was all "oh really?!" but ok, they did work things out. She kinnda is from a different world that has different values, but still, she can be soooo mean, and sometimes I believe if she weret o ever bite her tongue that she would poison herslef!

Ok I need a brake now.....don't mind my little rant here, I will continue later, after I take care of Tonks (my cat that fell out the window again), coz I can't concentrate on anything else right now.

I do think Serena made mistakes in the end of the season but I felt Dan was in the wrong a lot. There was a reason she didn't trust Dan and I think part of that was trust issue and part of that had to do with the way Dan acts when it comes to anything the resembles old Serena, including even just hanging out with her friends. When she was asked why she lied, her response was Dan puts her on a pedastol and she didn't want him to know about what really happened (which was so silly since it wasn't like the death was her fault). She didn't feel like she could go to Dan because he would judge her for what happened and maybe that is the problem with the relationship right there.

See this is where I don't agree with you guys, coz if she were honest with him from the start he would have been by her side all the way. Everything started the first night she went out with G, and then enlisted the help of Chuck. She repeatedly lied, and Dan got really worried, and she kept on lying, and he got more worried, she wouldn't talk to him, and then she disappears, he finds her at Blair's a mess, and she drops how she slept with two guys on him....so I totally understand him reacting the way he did. And the putting her on a pedestal? Those were her words, her seeing of how he feels about her, her fears, not Dan's.
G didn't help with the whole thing, the manipulative slut she is, but still Serena had the power to avoid it all, but she didn't. She chose to lie, and deceive, coz let's face it, that is the only thing those kids know how to do, but this time it backfired on her....I'm really sad over how it all ended, coz as much as I like Vanessa I don't want to see her with Dan......Nate and Serena? Well that a whole different story lol - I think those two have massive chemistry going on

I read somewhere that in the books Dan and Serena don't last long, but there are a LOT of differences from the book characters and the TV ones, so.....

I'm really hooked, lol, and I can't wait for season 2.

OH! Chuck and Blair hooking up at the wedding was adorable! I totally melted.....and then Chuck goes back to being Chuck again lol, I can't wait to see how that's gonna turn out.

I actually think Dan and Serena are really cute together (just re watched the Christmas episode Roman Holiday) but I think they are going to take a break. With their parents getting together and from the promos of Serena in the Hamptons, I think she is gonna start to see someone else. BUT I do agree that the book differs from the show and they did put a lot of emphasis on their relationship/ the fact that they loved each other....I feel like it might be sort of on and of thing throughout the next season, either way I am excited!
