You know I felt the same way. I could not bring myself to watch any of the above show's either. It was kind of like, when I watch DC I'm back in my teen years and any other teen show could never compete with my DC! I have very strong feelings about this show. I have all seasons and it has become a friend, in a healthy way, not obessive.

The only other show that I have watched that makes me even think of DC is ABC's October Road. When I watched the first episode of OR I was like, omgosh this is kind of like if DC had shown everyone in their late 20's early 30's. I mean OR has the whole life long friends thing going on.

Anyways I'm so glad I found a thread here just for my favorite teendrama ever Dawson's Creek.

Well can I just say reading all the posts on this thread makes me laugh so hard. I mean you are feeling everything I felt when I first watched all the seasons. But I have watched them a lot. Actually I have busted out for the first time and started watching last night "four to tango" then I jumped to "a weekend in the counry" and am watching the rest of S3. I usually start at S1 "Beauty Contest" and then watch every epy. But depending on my mood, I mostly fast forward through the scenes I don't need to see. Sometimes it's Jack and Jen, or Andie/Jack, or S3 Dawson/and anyone else but Joey.

Anyways, I just wanted to share that I loved reading what you all wrote, and I am on S3 epy"Crime&Punishment". I just needed a P/J boost last night.

I had to pause my ep and come back to gush

Meggan, welcome to the thread! It's nice to see another person is rewatching DC eps

It's so interesting you brought up the Beauty Contest ep 'cause I was talking about this ep compared to the Anti-Prom ep with co-workers (yep, my gushing has really spilled all over the place, lol). For me, the way Dawson reacted to Joey in Beauty Contest is one of the many reasons I didn't want them to hook up. She'd been his friend for years and it was pretty obvious that she had feelings for him as more than just a friend, but Dawson was like completely oblivious to it 'cause he was stuck in his fantasy, self-absorbed world. He didn't actually notice Joey until she got all dolled up at the pageant and that kinda pissed me off 'cause her with makeup, hair all done up, jewelry, and a sexy gown isn't really who she is. But Pacey! Oh, my boy Pacey noticed Joey from the very beginning! She was always kinda on his radar 'cause even in season 1 (The Double Date episode) he was liking Joey and wanting to kiss her. So I loved that he complimented how beautiful she looked in The Anti-Prom ep yet acknowledged that the sparkling earrings and all wasn't her. That she's just simple and elegant. He loved her just the way she was...awww, Pacey

I'm like halfway through season 4 (I got held up 'cause I did rewatch a lot of Pacey/Joey scenes a couple of times, including the whole Anti-Prom ep like 4 times, lol) but I totally forgot to mention how much I loved Pace and Jo in the hammocks on the boat just reading to each other and holding hands. That was like one of the most romantic and beautiful moments I've ever seen...plus the way they were shaped in the hammocks almost looked like the shape of a heart. I just melted into like a little puddle on the floor from it.

K, gotta get back to my ep. I'm watching A Winter's Tale and right now I'm a little upset with Joey for being upset with Pacey for the whole condom in the wallet thing. Plus Jen constantly falling is just LOL

Edit: The ending of A Winter's Tale. Best. Ending. Ever.

I'm watching ep4 of S1 (I'm kind of alternating between DC and Veronica Mars). Dawson is so annoying how he left Jen when she offered to really talk about his mother's affair and be there for him. He ran to Joey and then screamed at her for not telling him that she knew about him. I get that he is obsesessed about that, but it was still wrong to treat Joey like this. Then he runs back to Jen, gives her his "honesty rules" speech and is pissed at her when she tells him completely honest that she was "one of those kids", partying and having sex in NY. He thinks the people around him did what they did on purpose just to hurt him or whatever. He's soooo selfish! Arrrrrgh!

Poor Pacey, it's so mean how Tamara treats him, flirting with that colleague of hers (who is gay, but Pacey doesn't know that)

Also the lines they all have, no other show has conversation like that and 15 year olds don't speak that way. I like it most of the time, but sometimes it's too much.

edit:
After having watched the hurricane episode I have to admit Dawson did a very good apology to both Jen and Joey.

Dawson is extremely selfish and also judgmental. And when there are some fleeting moments in season 5 where I think he may have totally changed and might become bearable for me, he goes and says or does something reverting back to the Dawson who has annoyed me throughout the seasons.

I agree and found the first two seasons to be harder to sit through 'cause the way they spoke was just too ridiculous. The big words were way over the top especially since they were always behaving so immaturely. At least it seemed to tone down by season 3.

All I have to say is thank God for Pacey in season 5 'cause everyone else is periodically aggravating me, especially Joey.

Season 5, wow! You are really fast! In season 6 Jensen shows up, I'm curious how you'll like his character. TBH I saw only a few eps with him in it, and I remember not trusting his character as far as I could throw him. I'm curious if I will think differently when I'm finally at season 6 (which will take a good while) and now that I actually know who the Great Jensen is. (I like Jensen as Alec in Dark Angel very much, btw)

Aye, I'm at the first ep of season 6 and the opening credits said Jensen was in it but I haven't seen him yet. To be honest, I don't think I can stomach the whole season if Dawson and Joey end up together. I've been nauseous the whole night from the scene of them having sex.

And why did they put my Pacey with Audrey? She was funny in the beginning but I don't like her with Pacey at all. She's too demanding and crazy...and hasn't Pacey had enough of that with Andie, lol.

I didn't like season 5 either. For one, I've never been a fan of the way college is done on teen dramas. Usually all the characters end up at the same college and that's not realistic. On DC, they might as well have all been at the same school 'cause they were still together in the same place. Even Dawson came from L.A. to Boston to be with them. And they even had Pacey going away with them for spring break and, as much as I love Pacey, I thought that was just odd.
Secondly, I couldn't stand the whole Dawson/Joey saga that lasted that whole season. It was like torture...she gets jealous over him and Jen while he acts like he's moved on, then he decides he hasn't moved on and goes after Joey but she's with another guy. Geez. Stop it already!
Then season 5 just felt a little too focused on Joey. She had so many stories from her and the teacher and her and Charlie to her singing. Hell, she had a whole episode that just focused on her (which btw I did think was the worst episode of DC so far).

Ok...and now I gotta admit something and, Nanika, please don't get mad at me but...I skipped to the Castaway episode. I'm sorry but I just couldn't wait. It was killing me 'cause when I went to see what number ep it was I saw that Pacey and Joey were the only ones in that ep and my mind just couldn't focus on any other ep, lol. But I was confused as to what happened with Audrey and the Eddie thing so I'm going back to watch them in order now. But that ep gave me hope for season 6! And I have MASSIVE thoughts regarding that episode that of course I'll express later

I agree. She just stuck out...she made a lot of funny comments and was very insightful on their lives but she was an outsider looking in. Definitely not one of them.

And on Mitch's death, I must admit something. I didn't cry about it until Dawson went to some film festival where he was being honored and they read a letter his father had wrote about him. I actually fell apart in that scene and, as much as I hate Dawson, I did feel for him because it must've been hard to have to hear the beautiful things his father said about him all the while knowing he'll never be able to see or speak to his dad again. Even Dawson's speech after that got me all emo.

I finished Season 1 yesterday night. I don't know how you manage to watch all the season so fast adia, don't you need any sleep? I envy you, because I want to get to the eps Jensen's in already!
Anyway, I liked the last 2 eps very much, they got me re-addcited to DC. There were scenes that even made me sympathize with Dawson himself, like when he let Jen who was very upset about her granddad stay the night and in the morning when she kissed him Joey caught them, just as both Joey and Dawson had finally decided that they loved each other.
On the other hand reading in your post, adia, that it's pretty much the same love triangle in S5 that it's in S1 doesn't really speak for the show, does it?
