'Friday Night Lights' Close to Renewal

I'll admit it: sometimes I hear a piece of news that makes me squeal with glee. It's a very manly squeal of course, but it's loud and shrill nonetheless. This is the sound I made when I found out that NBC is very close to striking a deal to bring Friday Night Lights back for a third season. As we reported previously, NBC has been shopping the show around in an attempt to strike a deal with another company that would help alleviate the costs of the low-rated drama. Now it looks like DirecTV is ready to step in and partner with NBC to help bring the series back for another year. However, what will this mean for the loyal viewers of the underrated drama?

This is...good? I want more FNL, but do they have to air it on some lame subscription network no one has? This is the same crap they pulled with Passions. But I guess if NBC wants to suck and air 13 hours of Deal or No Deal, they too can be sellouts just like all the other networks, replacing quality scripted programming with garbage reality shows like Moment of Truth or American Gladiators. Is there no place left to find a network actually devoted to creating a good product?

I'll take my FNL any way I can get it, even if having it on DirecTV is a bit of a hassle. As long as it encores on NBC, that works for me.

I ALREADY HAVE DIRECTV!!! I don't care which airs it, I just want FNL STILL ON THE TV!!! I hope this finalizes soon! And they better get TAYLOR KITSCH back as TIM RIGGINS. I hope him filming for X-Men doesn't interfere with FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS!!!

TheEditor: Direct TV isn't a subscription network, it's an alternative to cable. You, in essence, would have to switch "cable" companies to Direct TV. A lot of people have Direct TV and it's competitor DISH network.,,,but, to me, this deal makes no sense. I don't see what this would get Direct TV. In this age of DVR's I seriously doubt that many people would switch to Direct TV just so the can watch FNL immediately when it airs instead of soon after on network TV. And how would Direct TV show it exclusively? Will it be on a seperate station on Direct TV, not NBC? I hope the author of the article is right, because I love the show, but something doesn't seem right about this. I'd appreciate a source reference for where the author heard this info.
