There's a lot of church in tonight's Friday Night Lights. Riggs is attending Lyla's megachurch regularly now, even dragging Billy along with him. On this particular Sunday, Riggs pokes Billy to pony up some cash for the offering basket that Lyla is toting around. On the black side of town, Smash is attending his considerably funkier church, but leaves to make some calls to the other schools that were courting him. Not looking good, though. He even stalks the Alabama coach to beg him to take him back. Sadly, no cigar. To read the rest, click here.

Part of me couldn't help but think the final scene was a metaphor for FNL (Jason Street) pleading with viewers and NBC (Erin) to give it a chance. Let's hope it comes back, because I need more of Coach Taylor. "With your face?" God, this show is great.

Someone please tell me how Coach's actions (e.g. the fight) were any better than Smash's. At least Smash was defending a principle. That fight seemed so out of character for Coach, someone that always preaches character and gave Smash a major hard time. I hope the don't just "foget the fight happened." That would be a major point of hypocrisy by the writers if so. Coach has some explaining to do.

Hi! I write the FNL recaps at The Recapist. I'm dropping by to let you know that this afternoon, I printed out both seasons' worth of recaps (all 37 of them -- 236 pages!), got them spiral-bound at Kinko's and shipped off a copy each to both Ben Silverman and Jeff Zucker. I'm encouraging other FNL recappers to do the same -- show them that there are folks out there who watch the show down to the slightest detail! I don't know whether it will help, but it sure made me feel better to do it. Ran Cansley www.recapist.com

Well, I know where they're going with the Lila and Riggins story, so I'm okay if this is the last one, because it's really going to piss me off if they go where I think they're going. Anyway, rather anti-climatic, wouldn't you say? Somehow, I think it's just as well. I love Kyle Chandler (oh, bring back Early Edition!), but Connie Britton is annoying. After Smash leaves, can Riggins and Matt really carry the show? And once they leave, then what? Does it become Friday Night Dorm Lights? I don't know, I don't see how they're going to sustain it.
