While the moment I had been waiting for since last week didn’t happen until the last possible second, immense drama still ensued in last night’s episode of Friday Night Lights.     With the loss of Smash Williams and with him the team’s African American players reeling in the wake of Coach Mac’s racy comments, Coach Eric Taylor turns to the JV players, which, needless to say, doesn’t go very well.  This storyline is a tough one for the Coach to deal with as he struggles over whether or not to fire Mac.  Always ready (unfortunately) to put in his two cents is Buddy Garrity, who tells Coach to fire Mac. Coach goes to his guidance counselor wife for advice and, in part due to their unwavering marriage, his morality triumphs over all and Coach declares in a press conference that Mac will stay.

Meanwhile, previously perfect Julie Taylor’s blossoming friendship with Tyra is bringing out her inner rebel.  Well, by Hollywood standards anyway. That is unnerving for Tami Taylor and Coach Taylor who are still fuming over the incident in last week’s episode in which Julie and Tyra cut class. They continue their gallivanting this week with a trip to The Landing Strip, the strip club Tyra’s sister works at, which lands Julie, Tyra and Matt and Landry (who came to visit them) in jail.
