2 Energy Theory

I did not write this theory. Someone else did but I thought it brought up some cool and interesting ideas. The theory is called

2 energys

I'll start off by stating things everyone already knows...

There are 2 distinctly different pockets of energy on the Island. One under the Orchid (- negative), one under the Swan (+ positive).

These energies do different things.

---------------------------------------------------------------

- The energy under the Orchid could be manipulated for physical time travel.

+ The energy under the Swan, we have seen (through Desmond), can be used for mental time travel.

---------------------------------------------------------------

- The characters we've seen time travel physically (the Pasties) don't seem to have had an effectual outcome on changing history. In fact, they seem to have played their roles exactly how they had always played them (WHH).

+ Desmond, through his mental time travel, and constant-finding survival is, according to Daniel, a very unique individual. Someone who can flash to points in his own past and KNOWINGLY make different decisions, and affect different outcomes (the different pictures with Penny).

--------------------------------------------------------------

- One energy brings your body back in time.

+ One energy brings you back in time to your body.

--------------------------------------------------------------

- When the Losties went back to 1974-1977 they didn't know if their actions would bring about a change, or if time would happen the way it always did.

+ When Desmond flashed before his eyes he knew how he had handled exact situations and therefore had a choice to act differently. Thus possibly being able to affect a change.

--------------------------------------------------------------

So... Here it is. I believe that the two "Island Deities" are physical manifestations of the two different pockets of energies on the island.

----------------------------------------------------------------

- MIB is a manifestation of the Orchid energy. That energy brought the Losties to 1974, where they always had gone, and had always done what they did there and then. That energy also caused the time-shifting chaos we saw in Season 5.

+ Jacob is the manifestation of the Swan energy. It only ends once, everything else is just progress. Progress because his energy can allow you to make an effectual change, and progress from the previous iteration of time.
