Candis-CayneBy many accounts, Candis Cayne's portrayal of Carmelita on ABC's Dirty Sexy Money has been considered as 2007's most significant transgender character.  Cayne herself made it to Radar Magazine's list of the New Radicals, which names "the year's most notable rogues, renegades, and rule-breakers."

Ironically, Cayne had just about given up on getting her acting career going when Dirty Sexy Money fell onto her lap and turned things around for the transformed former Brendan McDaniel.

Good for her! I really like her character, and it's all because of her that 2007 was the year of the tranny. I hope 2008 will bring even more!

Nice article, but I wanted to point out that most transwomen consider themselves women, and calling Rebecca Romijn a "100 percent total woman" in comparison is considered a terrible insult.

When will the media learn how to write an article about us!? Was it really necessary to put her birth name in the article? No! How disrespectful! It would make me ill if anyone did that to me. And Candis is 100% female where it counts... in the brain. And when referring to Romijn it's best to say "natal women" not "total woman". Doing that is a putting Candis down. Lastly, I was disappointed to see Candis indirectly refer to herself as a man and a "tranny". I'm sorry but many of us consider that on par with the "N" word. Candis you are a woman period!!!! You can do a better job. It is not necessary to marginalize a person born transsexual in every freakin' article. It's all about R-E-S-P-E-C-T!
