| Even though it looks like the next episode will involve Miguel deciding to get his hands dirty by killing someone himself rather than living vicariously through Dexter, I don't see this relationship ending well. The previews also seem to indicate that Miguel figures out that Dexter is just a little too good at killing to be a novice. I don't think that keeping Jimmy Smits on for the rest of the show is an option--it wouldn't be the same show at all if Dex were to have a partner in crime for the rest of the show. And it seems to me that Miguel is a very self-serving character so I think that if he were arrested he would take Dexter down with him. So if you accept the premise that Miguel has got to go and that jail isn't really a good option, how should they deal with him? The obvious answer would be for Dexter to kill him, but we have already seen that with Brian. Besides that, the character of Dexter walks a very fine line between good and evil--he is a killer, yet we love him because he is (if such a thing actually exists) a moral killer. Even if Miguel gets out of hand, he is still Dex's friend, someone who he connected with and the person who comes closest to understanding Dexter. So having Dex kill Miguel would not be a good idea. I think that Miguel should be killed by someone that he is "hunting". This would serve two purposes: It would get rid of Miguel in a way that would keep Dex out of trouble and it would allow the writers to explore Dex's psyche even more. Would he grieve for Miguel? Blame himself for not teaching Miguel how to be safe? How would his issues with his dad--his hunting mentor--come into play? I think that this could be a great storyline. The other option, of course, is to have The Skinner kill Miguel. I imagine this is probably the route that they are going to take, but who knows. |

| Miguel will have to die... I don't see how this could EVER end being good for Dexter. Maybe Miguel is the skinner.. Hmmm.... to many possiblities. |
