Jimmy Smits Joins the Cast of 'Dexter'

Jimmy Smits is back. The veteran actor, best known for his role on NYPD Blue, has joined the cast of Showtime's Dexter. Dexter, which stars Michael C. Hall as a crime scene expert for the Miami Police Department who moonlights as a serial killer, is currently filming its third season which is set to premiere on Showtime this Fall. Smits will play Miguel Prado, a high-powered, charismatic district attorney who comes from one of the most powerful families in the Miami area. He and Michael C. Hall's Dexter will join forces as they investigate a murderer with important ties to both of them. Smits will appear in ten of the twelve season three episodes.

I didn't watch "Cane" and I can't wait for this season of "Dexter".

Latino guy on the Miami-based Dexter... sounds like good casting to me.

Michael C.Hall and Jimmy Smits in the same scenes for 10 episodes? Sign me up. Like that wasn't easy to do before, but man this is awesome.

Jimmy Smits playing the role of Miguel Prado the District attorney is very good. I really like how dexter teams up with Prado and executes some bad criminals.

He's awesome in Dexter... although I kinda get the feeling Dexter is gonna have to make him fall foul of the "dark passenger" as he's only scripted as a guest star and from what i've seen so far it could be possible...
