Default R.I.P. John Black! *sniff!*

So it looks like John Black is really gone. So sad! What do you think? Why do the writers keep reviving Andre (who also looks pretty dead right now) and Stefano, but then go and kill off a beloved character?

I just can't believe John Black is off the show, it makes me so mad I can hardly stand it. I just don't see the show surviving, except for Bo and Hope and Steve and Kayla, but John and Marlena were truly the meat of the show. If Days fired Drake then shame on them but if Drake decided not to renew his contract then we have to respect that and just let him know that he will truly be missed and the show will never be the same without him. I would just like to know the truth about the whole situation so if any of you out there know the real truth then please let me know Thanks a bunch.

Smile Bye

I became a fan of days while in high school, and did indeed watch the very first episode...I have been an on again off again fan because I'm not in college...while some of the kids are cute they do not have the acting skills of Drake Hogestyn, Peter, John, Tony, Steve,or Bryan,..Marlana, Christin ect. I thought Drakes death bed scene was true to life, and I was indeed moved to tears and unless the acting is excellent I do not cry...hats off to all who had a very difficult role to play and handled it with class...Drake was perfect in his breath control...the tears seemed to be heart felt...I am delighted Stafano and Tony are back...

It Seems Drake Was At Odds With The Show And Thought It Was Not As Good As It Had Been And I Think He Kinda Resented All The New Untested Young Actors Getting To Act While His Charactor Laid In A Hospitqal Bed; And I Agree I Think The Show Has A Right To Bring In Young Actors For The College Crowd, But I Watched From The Beginning And The Young Actors Did Not Have The All The Tv Time, The Main Actors Mcdonald Carey And Frances Reed Bill And Susan Hayes And So Forth Had The Show And Then It Was Good Then When Stefano Came Along It Got Even Better...

Unhappy Sorry and shocked to hear this.

I have not watched Days in a bit of awhile kind of like about six months feeling a little discomfort and maybe it a good time to back a way and give space but in my absence that should not have cost me Drake Hogestyn as John Black or any other incarnation Days writers might have dreamed up.
Drake has been part of Days as I read in the possible loss for 20 seasons and an actor often at some point wants to move on but one so popular and so handsome, so special, and with a longstanding, unbelievable love story that defies every disbelief or lack of faith in it is not to be let go so easily.
Maybe this is one of those instances where that all encompassing faith of John and Marlena, family, and fans will again win out.

Beautiful Godly truly descriptive words and thought selected for the funeral which so well done wouldn't be playing with God so I am a bit worried that John, Drake, could really be gone.
I tell you the actor and character and his little mark or idiosyncracy sometimes of walking around with his hands in his pockets when he is upset or bothered will not be forgotten. Marlena and the children seem like they are the real thing and he knows it and expects them to be in tune with his mind and thoughts.
Maybe it will prevail again.

As for the break in shame on such a misguided fan. I have not seen all of John Black's storylines of course but he certainly isn't demonic nor possessed.

One question if I could ask Drake, "You are okay aren't you? No one is bothering you now or ever to lead you to make such a move in your career that we Days fans lose you?"

I don't believe tptb can explain why they would kill off a character of John's magnitude when the show is literally dying. John and Marlena are central to the show killing off one of them tells me the show is ready to turn off the lights for good.

Default Where is the warm fuzzy feeling?

I watched "Days" because of the warm, fuzzy feelings between John and Marlena. The love and commitment between the Blacks, and the powerful love and commitment between Hope and Bo Brady were the biggest draws for me. When you destroyed John and Marlena's love, you destroyed my interest in your show. Find new writers, who truly love the characters and want to retain their already well established essences. Get Drake back! Fire up the Love and Warmth! We are all looking for what is sometimes missing from our own lives.

I use to watch alot but must admit have not realy watched in quite sometime. How did his character die? On a side note I do not know whats worse aDAys how they have so many different stories going on its a little to much to take, they have characters who have kids who are shown just after they are board and for a few months then are just discussed and then next time you see them they all of a sudden are teenagers or adults even though it may of only been a few months since they were babies. Also how characters are not show for a while because maybe they take sometime off and when the characters come back they recast them and the original may of been people who have had long standing in those roles.

on another side note i have a elderly aunt who has watched it alot longer then me and it gives us a unique connection and thing to share.
