Faraday Traveling Forward or Back?

So what do we think? Is out favorite physicist and Original Dharma who went forward somehow or did he somehow time one of the jumps to be able to get to the exact time/place that The Orchid was discovered?

I think he is a present day physicist who travels back in time to learn about the Dharma intiative. I base this on the fact that when Faraday was heading into the Orchid station, he hid his face from Dr. Che/Candle/Hallowax and some of the others (exept the worker guy schlepping rocks who was clearly unimportant to the Initiative), like he did not want them to see him. If he was a Dharma guy, there would be no reason for him to hide. However, if Dr. Che saw some random dude poking around their huge discovery, he'd probably flip out. This leads me to believe that Daniel is not Dharma, or he would not have been hiding his face.

I'm not sure how "random" his time travel back would have been, since he seems to have a whole lot of information in that journal of his. Plus, his mom is Ms. Hawking, who knows more than we think she knows so far.

I agree that he somehow figured out how to control things so that he can determine when he will end up. It will be very interesting to see how that plays out!
