Default 4/8/08-4/15/08 Limited Edition Star Wars Posters Contest

The Force is with Spike TV this April as the complete Star Wars Saga comes to basic cable. Airing Friday, April 4 through Sunday, April 6, and Friday, April 11 through Sunday, April 13, the two-weekend event includes the broadcast premiere of Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and the basic cable premieres of Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace and Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones. For more details and to watch featured video clips, see the Stars Wars mini site on Spike.com.

Spike TV’s presentation of the Star Wars Saga will feature digitally re-mastered versions of the films, shown uncut and presented in HD where available. Throughout each weekend, Spike TV viewers will be treated to special Star Wars features provided by Lucasfilm Ltd., including a behind-the-scenes look at the making of Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith. Spike TV will also premiere an exclusive clip of LucasArts’ highly anticipated new videogame, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, which is scheduled for release this summer.

BuddyTV has two limited edition posters to commemorate the occasion. (See below for the picture.) To win your very own poster, just reply to this thread with your answer to the question "Which planet in the Stars Wars universe would you like to live on and why?"

You have until Tuesday, April 15 at 12noon ET to enter. At that time, the thread will be closed and two winners will be randomly selected.

Spike TV’s Star Wars schedule is as follows:
  • Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace (1999, PG*)
    Premieres Friday, April 4 (8:00 – 11:00 PM, ET/PT; Encore Saturday, April 5 (5:00 – 8:00 PM, ET/PT) & Sunday, April 20 (8:00 – 11:00 PM, ET/PT & 11:00 PM – 2:00 AM, ET/PT).

Stranded on the desert planet Tatooine after rescuing young Queen Amidala from the impending invasion of Naboo, Jedi apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi and his Jedi master discover nine-year-old Anakin Skywalker, a young slave unusually strong in the Force. Anakin wins a thrilling Podrace and with it his freedom as he leaves his home to be trained as a Jedi. The heroes return to Naboo where Anakin and the Queen face massive invasion forces while the two Jedi contend with a deadly foe named Darth Maul. Only then do they realize the invasion is merely the first step in a sinister scheme by the re-emergent forces of darkness known as the Sith.

  • Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones (2002, PG)
    Premieres Saturday, April 5 (8:00 – 11:00 PM, ET/PT); Encores Sunday, April 6 (4:30 – 8:00 PM, ET/PT) & Sunday, April 27 (8:00 – 11:00 PM, ET/PT & 11:00 PM, ET/PT & 11:00 PM – 2:00 AM, ET/PT).

Ten years later, the galaxy is on the brink of civil war. Under the leadership of a renegade Jedi named Count Dooku, thousands of solar systems threaten to secede from the Galactic Republic. When an assassination attempt is made on Senator Padmé Amidala, the former Queen of Naboo, twenty-year-old Jedi apprentice Anakin Skywalker is assigned to protect her. In the course of his mission, Anakin discovers his love for Padmé as well as his own darker side. Soon, Anakin, Padmé, and Obi-Wan Kenobi are drawn into the heart of the Separatist movement and the beginning of the Clone Wars.

  • Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith (2005, PG-V)
    Premieres Sunday, April 6 (8:00 – 11:00 PM, ET/PT); Encore Monday, April 7 (4:30 – 8:00 PM, ET/PT).

Three years after the onset of the Clone Wars, the noble Jedi Knights have been leading a massive clone army into a galaxy-wide battle against the Separatists. When the sinister Sith unveil a thousand-year-old plot to rule the galaxy, the Republic crumbles and from its ashes rises the evil Galactic Empire. Jedi hero Anakin Skywalker is seduced by the dark side of the Force to become the Emperor’s new apprentice – Darth Vader. The Jedi are decimated, as
Obi-Wan Kenobi and Jedi Master Yoda are forced into hiding. The only hope for the galaxy are Anakin’s own offspring – the twin children born in secrecy who will grow up to become
Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia Organa.

  • Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope (1977, PG)
    Premieres Friday, April 11 (8:00 – 11:00 PM, ET/PT); Encore Saturday, April 12 (5:00 – 8:00 PM, ET/PT).

Nineteen years after the formation of the Empire, Luke Skywalker is thrust into the struggle of the Rebel Alliance when he meets Obi-Wan Kenobi, who has lived for years in seclusion on the desert planet of Tatooine. Obi-Wan begins Luke’s Jedi training as Luke joins him on a daring mission to rescue the beautiful Rebel leader Princess Leia from the clutches of the evil Empire. Although Obi-Wan sacrifices himself in a lightsaber duel with Darth Vader, his former apprentice, Luke proves that the Force is with him by destroying the Empire’s dreaded
    Death Star.

  • Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back (1980, PG)
    Premieres Saturday, April 12 (8:00 – 11:00 PM, ET/PT); Encore Sunday, April 13 (5:00 – 8:00 PM, ET/PT).

Three years after the destruction of the Death Star, Imperial forces continue to pursue the Rebels. After the Rebellion’s defeat on the ice planet Hoth, Luke journeys to the planet Dagobah to train with Jedi Master Yoda, who has lived in hiding since the fall of the Republic. In an attempt to convert Luke to the dark side, Darth Vader lures young Skywalker into a trap in the Cloud City of Bespin. In the midst of a fierce lightsaber duel with the Sith Lord, Luke faces the startling revelation that the evil Vader is in fact his father, Anakin Skywalker.

  • Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi (1983, PG)
    Premieres Sunday, April 13 (8:00 – 11:00 PM, ET/PT); Encore Monday, April 14 (5:00 – 8:00 PM, ET/PT).

In the epic conclusion of the Saga, the Empire prepares to crush the Rebellion with a more powerful Death Star while the Rebel fleet mounts a massive attack on the space station. Luke Skywalker confronts his father Darth Vader in a final climactic duel before the evil Emperor. In the last second, Vader makes a momentous choice: he destroys the Emperor and saves his son. The Empire is finally defeated, the Sith are destroyed, and Anakin Skywalker is thus redeemed. At long last, freedom is restored to the galaxy.

Easy! The moon of Endor (I know it's not a planet but we'll just go with it) because Ewoks are AWESOME.

Runner up is Kashyyyk.

A Star Wars contest, great! I'm such a Star Wars nerd!

If I was to live in the Star Wars universe, I think I wouldn't want to settle on just one planet. I'd rather have my own very cool spaceship and explore.
I certainly wouldn't want to live on any of the hot, desert, outer rim planets like Tatooine. I mean 2 suns, my inner vampire would hate it. I'm right there with little Ani, that sand sucks.
I would like to spend some time on Coruscant, because that's where the nicest apartments are, isn't it?
But if I had to chose a planet to live for some years, I would go with Corellia - the planet Han Solo's from. The landscape and climate are nice and Corellians are laid back, fun-loving, independent people and I think you could lead a reasonably comfortable and undisturbed life on Corellia, at least pre-Empire. In the time of the Emperor's reign I might prefer an outer rim planet, where there aren't Stormtroopers crawling all over the place all the time.

Default Naboo!

While I would certainly love to visit Kashyyk, Coruscant and even Tatooine, as far as LIVING on a planet, it would have to be Naboo. The dual population of the Naboo and the Gungans will provide plenty of diverse opportunities for exploring. Also the Naboo landscape (at least above water) is very similar to my boyhood home of the Pacific Northwest with plenty of lush green landscapes to explore. Perhaps my daughter or even my future grandaughter could become a Naboo queen (since they seem to rotate the position every few years). What more could a dad ask for!!

I didn't even have to think about this question!
Tatooine! I've seriously dreamed of living on Tatooine since I first saw the Star Wars movies. I always wanted to be a Jedi and be like Anakin and have someone come and tell me I was special. I can't really tell you why, it's just that I fantasized about it so much. I would move there in a heartbeat!

My home planet would totally be Coruscant. It is considered the most important world in the galaxy and is right at the center of all the action. It's huge and diverse and everything you'd expect in a busy center of the universe. AND not only is it beautiful- gothic and futuristic all in one- but it's home to the Jedi Temple! If it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me.

It's just all around awesome!

As much as I enjoy adventure, it's always nice to come home to a peaceful setting. And that is why I'd want to live on Naboo. It is just so beautiful and green there. I'm a country girl, I grew up with fields on all sides and lush Canadian forests fringing on the potato or grain crops. We used to spend hours out in the "back woods" making tree forts, playing games and having a generally good time. A favorite memory would be making patted down beds in the clover fields. I just love greenery. I also enjoy lakes, freshwater ones mostly, because you get out of them feeling so clean and invigorated. Naboo promises a peaceful existence with benevolent rulers. I am also a HUGE fan of their architecture, if I were to live there I could become a flourishing artist, sculptor or architect.

But although all of these things are nice, I'd have no one to share them with. So I'd also like to live on a planet like Kashyyyk, where I could marry a Wookie, because frankly, they are just the hottest things I have ever seen. I actually have this like huge thing for Chewie, it started when I was like 6 years old and watched Star Wars for the first time... It was love at first sight and I still feel that way ten years later. There's just something about Wookies that makes me feel all fuzzy inside...

OH! and I think I should admit this as well... I dressed up as Princess Leia for Halloween this year. I did. And my two best friends dressed as Luke and Darth Vader and we had Lightsaber fights on pretty much everyone in town's lawn. And we brought them to school and fought in front of the music teacher. And then we decided it was fun so we have random lightsaber fights when we decide to bring them to school again. Yeah. We are the coolest people in pretty much the world. (All of this is true. I'm not lying in the least bit. Seriously. I am that much of a loser!)

I am not sure of the planet it's on but would like to live on the planet where you can find Cloud City. The reason I would like to live there is based on what little we saw of it looked peaceful and I sometimes love the look of things from above and what would be better then a city in the clouds for a view like that.

Just make sure someone gets rid of the Empire before I move in tho.

May the Schwartz Be With You.
