| I would sing "You've Got a Friend" (James Taylor) because I've sung that to my wife for 29 years now and she seems to like it. Best not to mess with what's working, don't you think? |

| I would sing "When I Get Where I'm Going" by Dolly Parton. The reason is this: When I hear that song, It makes my heart just squeeze with emotion. Also, it is interesting, with verses, chorus and a bridge - the bridge just soars, man. |

| I would sing a variation of "Midnight Train to Georgia" not only because I love the song, but I think that the awesome backup singers on Idol would one up the PiPs. They are the unsung heroes of the show. They make everyone sound better than they really are. |

| I'd sing "When I See an Elephant Fly" from the classic Dumbo. Got a feather? Nope. Seeing an elephant fly is enough to convince me - anything is possible when you believe. Cin |

| Member | if i could sing any song on American Idol it would be "When Angels Fly Away" by Cold. the first time i heard it it brought tears to my eyes listening to the lyrics. every time i hear this song i think about the people overseas risking their lives and fighting for us. i think about what they are leaving behind, their friends and family back home... it just makes me sad and thankful at the same time knowing that there are people like that in this world willing to give their lives for others to have a future, its just so unselfish and sometimes in this world it is hard to see the good until you look at all the men and women serving in some form of military... i think anyone who has family and friends who have been killed or are still overseas would understand the significance of this answer... "When Angels Fly Away" is my favorite song! |

As soon as I got home I bought it for my Ipod, now if I have a rough day...that song cheers me up everytime. |

| If I were to go on American Idol I would totally sing a song by the Man, the Legend, the King himself- Elvis! "Jailhouse Rock" is an all-time favorite of mine and it's got the pop and energy that would make for a good AI performance. I sang this song once at a karakoe night in college and everyone loved it. I may not look like Elvis, but baby I can swivel my hips with the best of them! ![]() The girls at work couldn't stand Sanjaya, so I'm hoping against hope for a shot at one of the books signed by him!

| If I could perform any song on American Idol, I would sing “I Hope You Dance” by Lee Ann Womack and dedicate it to my beautiful 17 year-old daughter. When I hear that song on the radio, it never fails to bring tears to my eyes because it so eloquently encapsulates all the dreams a mother has for her daughter’s life. In the last few years, Christine has had more than her share of disappointments and setbacks that have left her feeling down and hopeless about her life and future. As a mother, it completely breaks my heart to watch a young girl who was once filled with endless amounts of hope and enthusiasm, just give up on her dreams and feel as if life has already passed her by. Her family and friends try to encourage her, to tell her that life has a way of working out even better than you could imagine if you just have faith, but unfortunately, our words never seem to be enough. Sometimes, a three minute song can communicate feelings in one’s heart far better than a thousand words ever could. If I had the chance to stand on the American Idol stage, I would sing “I Hope You Dance” to Christine, with all the love in my heart and soul, in hopes that she would listen and finally believe how amazing she is and how beautiful life can be if you just give it a chance. “I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance Never settle for the path of least resistance Living might mean taking chances But they're worth taking Lovin' might be a mistake But it's worth making Don't let some hell bent heart Leave you bitter When you come close to selling out Reconsider Give the heavens above More than just a passing glance And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance I hope you dance” |
