| BuddyTV is giving away one copy of Avatar the Last Airbender Book 3: Fire, Volume 1 on DVD. In this installment of Nickelodeon's animated show, the kids enter the Fire Nation with the goal of covertly moving from island to island to the Royal Palace, where they will eventually confront and defeat the Firelord. Along the way, they discover the people of the Fire Nation are not all that different in their needs and desires from the other peoples of the world. Check out the official website here. All you have to do to enter the contest is reply to this thread with your answer to the question "What do you think is the best animated show on television right now and why?" You have until Tuesday, November 20th at 11:59am ET/8:59 am PT to enter the contest. At that time, the thread will be closed and one winner will be selected by BuddyTV editors based on the best response. |

| Moderator ![]() ![]() | I think Family Guy is the best tv show on television right now. Simpsons is, while awesome, getting up there in the years. While Family Guy does have some humor that is more obscene than many shows. I think on the whole, the show is witty and interesting. BTW If I win I want someone else to have the prize, I just wanted to answer the question because I'm that dorky.

| Member | this is a tough question to answer, does this include shows that are on TV but are "finshed" but just in re-runs? also is this north america or world-wide shows that we're talking about? anyway on the answer: Currently the best "animated" show on TV for me personally ( key note) would probably be Avatar. My reasons are because even though the show is aimed for a younger age group i find the writing to be not completely based on that age range (9-15?) the plot is fairly simple but the way its presented makes a world of difference, its starts off rather fun and bright but over time you begin to see a little more serious side pop in. The show manages to teach kids lessons in morals and values to some extent as well as a little bit of environmental concern. the show uses tons of refence from Hindi and buddist teachings to Asian themed designs and colors and props. It appeals to kids because of the "hip" anime look but manages to take the better elements of anime and infuse it with North American writing style. The show itself is well animated and has gotten awards for that as well as storyboarding and writing. Also its one of the first Kid's shows to have a linear story and not an episode based one. My personal second choice would be Kim possible ( showed finshed 2004?) because of its very cool style and design (steve silver) and fun writing and acting of the characters. i think shows like simpsons and family guy have run their course, the writing for both shows has been quite weak in the last few seasons. |
