| This contest is not technically television-related, but it is still pretty awesome. We are giving away two copies of the two disc set which includes "Amazing Journey: The Story of The Who" and "Amazing Journey: Six Quick Ones." These are two feature-length films about one of the seminal and most influential rock bands in history. They were released today on DVD by Universal Studios Home Entertainment. Spanning over four decades, "Amazing Journey: The Story of The Who" reintroduces The Who now and to generations-to-come, as it tells one of the greatest stories of rock. The companion feature film, "Amazing Journey: Six Quick Ones," takes the viewer inside the mysteries that drive a rock band to the pinnacle of musical achievement. One winner will be selected based on the quality of the response to receive a copy of the 2-disc set. Three other winners will be selected randomly: one will receive the 2-disc set, and two others will win Amazing Journey ringer t-shirts. To enter this contest, reply here and tell us who your favorite band is and why. You have until November 13th at 11:59am ET/8:59am PT to respond. At that time, the thread will be closed and the winners will be announced. Best of luck to all! ![]() |

| Moderator ![]() ![]() | My favorite band in The Dropkick Murphys. For one it was the first band me and my boyfriend could both agree to like. Getting their CD was one of the biggest steps for me to move away from pop music and into actual quality music. Plus since I'm from Irish decent, all the cool bagpipes mixed in with the punk rock really make the band one of the coolest out there. They sing about regular stupid stuff but also have some punked out version of old Irish songs like The Rocky Road to Dublin. They are just cool beyond words.

| My favorite band... well, I love MAE. they're awesome, and I've seen them live a couple of times. They're amazing live, the lead singer is hot, and they have really great lyrics and tunes. |

| My favourite band is Kaizers Orchestra. They're from Norway and sing Norwegian so when a friend of mine asked me to go to a concert with him I wasn't absolutely sure whether I wanted to cause I'm a sing-along-person. I went anyways and loved them ever since. Their style is really unique, sort of rock, folk and gipsy. Apart from the typical drums and guitars they have a contrabass, pumporgan, accordeon, an ashtray, wheel rims and oil barrels with axe handles as instruments. So they combine traditional instruments with stuff no other band uses. That way their music has an awesome rhythm. Also their songs don't deal with the average run-of-the-mill topics, the lyrics are usually about rather dark issues like death, war, the devil, mental illnesses... the lead singer's voice fits that music perfectly! He's like the crowd's conductor and I like them best when they're on stage - I've listened to them endlessly so now I can sing along at the concerts too |

| I've never really listened to the Who but I love talking about Dashboard so I'll give this a shot. My favorite band is Dashboard Confessional. When I first purchased 'A Mark, A Mission, A Brand, A Scar' around 3 years ago, I had no idea what I getting; the album was simply on sale and I was looking for new music. I immediately fell in love with the simplistic nature of the song 'Hands Down' but didn't really appreciately the lyrical depth of the rest of the album. That summer, their song 'Vindicated' from the movie Spiderman 2 became one of my favorites and renewed my interest in the band. It wasn't until this past year or so, however, that I truly became enamored with their band. The album 'Dusk and Summer' became the soundtrack of my life this past summer, with the title track now standing as my favorite song of all the time. My fascination with the album caused me to look for some of their earlier stuff and the 'So Impossble' EP is about as close to perfect as any EP could get. Now that I'm a bit older I can truly appreciate lyrics to songs such as "Screaming Infidelities", "The Brilliant Dance", and "For You to Notice". Chris Carrabba's voice is often haunting, yet beautiful and his music is the best thing that can help me relax and forget the stresses of being not only a high school student, but as a friend, family member and person in general. |

| Wow. Everyone seems so deep into the issue. I must say I don't really have a favorite "band" so to speak. Instead my favorite music is from debatebly the most famous musical artist of all time: none other than the King of Rock and Roll himself, Elvis Presley. To me, Elvis embodies not only rock and roll but also many other brands and genres. He could sing anything he put his mind to and loved all kinds of music, from black church choirs of Memphis to German Opera. He was a true legend and true talent. Elvis changed the way the world looks at music. He invented rock and made significant contributions to most other genres out there. Most of all I enjoy Elvis' music and vocal abilities because they are simple, enjoyable, and moving and acheive whatever goal and hit perfectly on every issue related to that particular song. I enjoy most of all Elvis Presley's early works but I listen to everything he sings. He also had a great career as an actor and if he could have been able to be in better scripted films it is possible he could have been the most famous actor ever as well. He may be gone now but Elvis has changed my life. 30 years gone but not forgotten by a long shot. Long Live the King!
