Following the exit of Jorja Fox earlier this season, many rumors have sprouted that CSI's main star, William Petersen (Gil Grissom), will soon be leaving the Emmy Award-winning forensic drama he has spearheaded since 2000. While the 55-year-old actor never really confirmed his exact departure from the CBS series, several of his interviews conducted earlier this year strongly suggest that he has already been contemplating on hanging up his CSI gloves. The buzz about Petersen's departure has further heaped on with his contract running out this May, which fueled many fans to express their concerns and more importantly, their disapproval to the CSI actor's exit. Fortunately, Petersen has signed a contract, making it possible for Gil Grissom to remain on the canvass at least through the 2008-2009 season. To read the rest, click here.

Relief! Even though CSI boasts a good ensemble cast, William Petersen is the anchor .... if he goes, there goes the chemistry (already adversely affected by the exit of Jorja Fox, in my opinion). I don't blame him for getting antsy, but sure am glad he'll be around for yet another season

I guess after doing CSI for close to eight years, the actors are wanting to do different projects. I cant blame them but if they leave one by one and get replaced with new characters then the show will never be the same. As doodette said, Gil Grissom is the anchor on the show. I have never liked the miami or new york spin-off shows because the best chemistry is between the las vegas cast. If all the actors are going to leave eventually then its best to cancel the show when that happens because it wont be the real thing and CSI deserves to go out on top.

The problem with these procedural dramas is that they don't offer a lot in the way of character growth and so you're playing the same thing every day. While CSI continues to be a top show, it has to be a bit stale for the actors. This has happened to other shows - ER, Law and Order, - with varying degrees of success.

I am a huge fan of the show and am disappointed that Jorja Fox left the show and it looks like William Peterson will be following suit but I see how playing one role all the time can piegon hole you as an actor or actress, so I can see the need to play different roles and do different things, but I as a fan of CSI hate to see that some of the main characters are leaving the show.

Hopefully Grissom won't "move on" from Sara. I don't want any other pairings with him in it. Focus on the other relationships in the show, writers. You worked so hard developing GSR, it would be a shame to ignore that it existed just because Sara has left. Glad to hear the show won't completely focus on Grissom anymore, hopefully that means the other characters will develop some romance, not Gil. I don't watch anymore, it's not worth it for me without Sara, but I still don't want him moving on. I know, it's weird, but hey, I'm a dedicated shippper.
