William PetersenFor some time now, reports have gone around that CSI: Crime Scene Investigation's main man, William Petersen (Gil Grissom) is ready to depart the show.  In a rare interview, the actor spoke to the British Radio Times about his plans regarding CSI.

Petersen talked about his reasons for wanting to hang up his CSI gloves, as well as the factors holding him back from doing so just now.

if he is so miserable, then he should leave. Personally I find CSI Miami to be more entertaining than the original

I'm sorry, but CSI Miami sucks. If Grissom left CSI, the show would die with him. He makes the show. The other CSI's never were quite up to par as the original.

William Petersen/Gil Grissom IS CSI. His character sets the tone of the show, and if he leaves, the show will never be the same. CSI without Grissom is a CSI without me as a viewer.

Ok First of all if Peterson/Grissom left it would indeed be hard to take but maybe we could get used to it
second I love the original but I also think CSI Miami is good as well

I did try, but I never liked (or watch now) either of the other two CSI's, even though I do normally really like Gary Sinise in most things. Caruso just does not cut it trying to be Mr Cool all the time. It was hard enough to watch Jorja Fox leave the main CSI group, together they all make up a great team, I don't know how most of them would do separately.

I too am a huge devotee of Gil's character, but do think a replacement is possible. A case in point is LasVegas, where James Caan was successfully replaced with Tom Selleck. The latter plays a distinctively different character than his Magnum P.I. series and is macho enough to sub for Cann...whom I greatly liked. A change can be healthy and not necessarily a death knell. Even marriages need little breaths of fresh air now and then

WHAT???!!! CSI without Grissom? Unthinkable! What makes this show so strong is its ensemble cast, and William Petersen is the anchor. It was bad enough when Jorja Fox left and already the chemistry is beginning to suffer for it. If Petersen, my heart throb, departs, I doubt I'll watch anymore. Now, if Jorja came back for a short run and Sara and Gil married and then left together, that would be different .... the circle will have been completed.

NOOOOOO! I llove Grissom. He is truly the heart and soul of the show. Miami and New York have ruined it for the the original. I would rather see those cut than lose the original with Gil and his great team. They just seem to blend so well together. I hope he does change his mind, but if not I wish him the best in whatever he pursues. Love ya William! You are the best and so is your show and supporting cast.

Petersen/Grissom is the show......I don't think it would last without him......as for Sara I was glad when she left I hated the whole Sara/Gil story line! He didn't need her anyway!
