| You should jeep in mind that stars are finky. Just because one person was charged $60 does not mean you will be charged the same amount as they did. Also sometimes a percentage goes to charity. I sometimes work/volunteer at cons and if I cannot afford a autograph I try to get a pic. What you should try to do is get access to a digital camera if said guest is going to be there for more then a few hours and one day. Then get the pic with them and then rush off to a copy or photo shot get a copy of the pic and go back and try to get it signed. I think it is how you approach the stars on top of how the day is going for them. Back in 98 I met Marina "Counselor Troi from ST-TNG" Sirtis as part of a big Star Trek contest I won. Durning the contest amongst main neat things I was able to do and get was meeting her and getting some photos with her. Anyway a few years ago she was in my area for a con I was working at so I dug out the photos and a copy of a magazine that published a article I wrote about winning the contest, etc. So when I got to the con found her line small and I was on break I approached her. I explained I was not working steady and I proceeded to remind her of our meet up almost 10 years before which at that point I pulled out the pics and the magazine which she looked at both and kidded oh yeah that was when I was pretty. We both laughed and get this first she signed both photos and the magazine and if that was not great in its own right she allowed for new pics of the 2 of us to be taken right there and then (funny thing is in some of the pics you can see the newly autographed items on the table in front of her) in the new pics. Talk about the ultimate certificate of authenticy not that I will ever sell any of these things. Finally the best part is all this did not cost me a red cent and I even got another neat story to share. |

| Moderator ![]() ![]() | Its expensive. At Comicon it was 10 bucks to take a picture with Claire from Heroes and it was for charity. Sometimes, when actors sign autographs, they'll let you take a picture with them. Alot of times the price of a photo partyly goes to the actor and partly goes to the con company. Actors are EXPENSIVE. Very expensive. Most cons small cons like this are lucky to break even on events. They make up for it by charging for the extras. So yeah, I paid extra for the photos, but that was my favorite time of the whole con. I got Jared to put his arm around me, talk to me and Heath about Friday the 13th and be a little goofy. Totally worth it in my book. And like Akael said, a lot of times you can just get your picture with the actor during the con for free. I know Alona, Sam, Chad, Gabe, all of them were taking pictures with people. They're loosing money out of their pocket by doing that because they aren't paid to appear, they just make money on the photos and autographs they sell, but they still did it.

| You should also now some of the guests at these cons might not be big names or have regular jobs so this is actually there only kind of pay. Also depending on the con/event the organizers might limit what and who they pay for. Some might just pay transport to their locale and hotel but do not pay anything extra or anyone extra. Also if the star brings items for fans/attendees they have to lay out the money for those not knowing how much to bring, the price to charge or even how many they will sell. When I go to a con/event I try to get background on the guests so I know not what they might be known by most people at the event but lesser known things and hopefully I will find more then one thing I like. I also try to get unique items signed. One of my fave shows is Babylon 5 and I had a friend in the USA send me some tv guides that came out when the show was on the air and it featured the human cast. So for a little while I was trying to get any cast menbers to sign it when I could. About 6 mths after I started this I located a canadian tv guide book dated about a year before the usa tv guide and showed the alien cast. now if time and length of line permits i talk to guests and let them to see my other items i have gotten signed. anyway in some cases especially the b5 people when they see the canadian guide they coment on it and in some cases while i might of had to pay for the usa guide to be signed will offer to sign the canadian guide for free since hardly any of them have seen it, how different it is and how neat it is. this being said its funny some of the things people bring to get signed. at one event jeff conway was a guest and some of u might know him as kinecki from the first grease movie anyway this one person came with the wrong vhs box and instead of grease 1 brought the one for grease 2. he told the person he was not in it and the person stated i know but i liked u so much in #1 i think they should of had u in #2. |

| Moderator ![]() ![]() | LOL just ask, he'll totally do it! Not every actor is so easy going about it, but Jared was very approachable.
