"Jimmy Smits"CBS' new drama, Cane, just debuted Tuesday night to less than stellar numbers, but before the series even took off, there was already much controversy surrounding its storyline and premise.  The feathers of an influential Cuban-American family were ruffled when CBS announced in May that Cane would be part of their fall TV lineup.

The prominent Fanjul clan from Palm Beach was displeased with the show's imminent airing, claiming Cane's central characters were loosely based on them.  Although show creator, Cynthia Cidre, doesn't know why there was even an uproar, CBS has since agreed to change the series setting from Palm Beach to the fictional Florida town of Playa Azul.

This makes me sad. I thought the premiere was pretty good!

Amen to what Joemamma said. I saw the pilot and it was not interesting, kind of boring. Now lets get Nestor back to Lost where he should be!

Nestor should have never left LOST in the first place. It's about time they cancelled CANE and he went back to where he truly belongs.

Um...11.1 mil is not "unimpressive". That's the best numbers a CBS show has gotten in that timeslot on that day in quite some time. -sa@bonasi.com

those who like something do not bodder to write about it, but on the other hand people who dislike or have a negative thougth do take the time to say it. I think this is the case here, and this show will be liked by plenty of people. It will be a hit, TV needs to go back to basics, and at the end, everybody likes a good old fashion novel about power, love and money.

I thought it was a great show. I'm looking forward to the rest of the season. It's so refreshing to see an actual drama on TV. I'm so tired of reality shows. Y arriba los Latinos. Ya era hora de que tengamos un promgrama con tantos Latinos.

I liked the show, but as I Cuban American would like to see some real Cubans playing the part of Cubans. Hector and Jimmy are great, but they are Puerto Rican not Cuban and when they speak in spanish you just don't get that hot, sexy Cuban slang. The guy who played the doctor and the rafter sounded like real cubans do. I bet they were.
