| It's been over a week since the Big Brother finale and the internet has been full of interviews with some of the cast members. I've not been surprised about anything I've read. I have read nothing that has changed my mind about any of the houseguests, nor anything that makes me think that they were different in the house than they are in real life. The interviews have not been as plentiful or different as in years past and it seems that the bonds that usually form have not been. One thing that did surprise me is the number of interviews that Amber has done. I guess I thought she'd slink off into the sunset, but she's actually been attempting to do damage control. | Very well said LadyTex. Ive been a BBfan since day one. This season was disturbing and vulgar. Made me wish for S5 back and I never thought I would want that! |

Excellent insight into this seasons Big Brother. I have/was a fan of BB since Season One. I had to stop watching as it made me ill and I kept waiting for the producers to intervene (and not the disgusting way that they did in rigging this season). I will never understand the mentality of the 'fans' of this train wreck that was Big Brother 8. You so beautifully put into words everything thing that was wrong with this wretched season. Thank you for your column

Eloquent, as always. Like you, I don't understand why so many people out there support the Donatos and enjoy the fact that Jen is constantly berated by Dick. As a man, I have questioned many of the accusations that we males receive, particularly regarding a lack of empathy, sympathy and outright sexism. However, after watching Dick get away with everything that he did, with the full support of CBS and so many of the men at home, I feel ashamed. What is going on here??? Even BuddyTV seems to have a fundamental split on the "Dick issue," based on gender. Oscar was enamored by Dick's game play, and loved the fact that Jen was treated so poorly, as did the other gentleman (I can't think of his name) who defended Dick throughout. If it wasn't for you and Gina, I probably would not continue visiting the BuddyTV site.

This isn't Jen's fault, no matter what. CBS saw what was going on and failed to do anything about it. They're a hundred percent liable for what happened. As an attorney, I feel that Jen has a legitimate claim against ALL parties involved in this abuse of privilege. I've written letters to CBS, and if I knew how to contact Jennifer, I would seriously advise her to seek compensation to prove a point and make sure this shameful display of ineptness and bigotry does not occur again.

Least we forget that Jen started the whole thing with Dick. I'm not defending how he acted, but you can't discount the fact that she opened the can of worms in the fist few weeks with her comments about Dick being gross, and not wanting to touch him in the butter comp and putting him and Dani up on the block right out of the gate.

I totally agree with you Joemamma. Jen came in acting like she was superior to everyone and went on the attack with Dick in the very beginning. It was a very personal attack which could have cast him as a loser to the rest of the HG and sent him in a downward spiral. What Jen did not expect is for Dick to have a backbone. He defended himself. He just went too far. I guess that shows how much her first words hurt him. I also think that is why Jen never said more than she did, she remembers "she" started all the mess, not Dick. I guess you have to be careful what you throw out there, cause there is always someone waiting to throw it back.

Oz, it's "Lest we forget...." Jen's comment to Dick about not wanting to be touched may have "hurt" his feelings initially, but don't forget that he is a grown man and is expected to act like one. Women are far more inhibited phyically than men, especially at Jen's age, and she had every right to express her opinion that she did not want to be touched. That said, Jen putting Dick and Danielle up on the block had to do with the unbelievable onslaught she received from Dick as a result of her -one- comment regarding him, with the hope of receiving a reprieve. The question is: why do you or anyone else believe that his feelings are more important than hers? Based on all of the responses this year, it is pretty obvious that this little social experiment shows what little regard we as a society have for women.
