Big Brother 8: Finale Reader Reactions

Big Brother 8, now over, is still spurning a good amount of discussion. I have a feeling that this season will always be a divisive one, especially in retrospect. Dick Donato will either be regarded as a great game player or an evil, venom spewing jackass. All viewers can agree that some of Dick's tirades were out of line, but the debate will rage over whether or not it was ultimately justified. In the contrived bubble of life that is Big Brother, Dick's Machiavellian tactics were effective. If he won the game as a result of what you might consider despicable actions, the mere fact that it worked has to justify what he did. Nothing else matters, because it's a game. You can blame CBS for editing the Donatos in a favorable manner, but the jury members were there the whole time, they endured Dick's full wrath and still respected him enough to hand him $500,000. Nonetheless, our BuddyTV reader reactions have skewed anti-Dick for quite some time, although in the wake of his victory, a few supporters let themselves be heard.

the donatos rocked . dick even outplayed will .. the evil docter.. ha ha also if anyone knows where to get the shirt im rude cause you stupid please let me know

This is the season of the Donatos. Dick is the better player and master strategizer than Daniele and Zach. I bet Dick probably watch the whole show while working at the bar at night. And how come this white trailer trash dude is so clever and smart? Where does he get his ideas and plans?

dont get upset because dick was the best player he deseves the mony and im glad he won im also glad that daniele did not win she is so fake everything that ever came out of her mouth was a lie im really glad dick won

I knew it would come down to these 2. They basically played the game with intergity you never had to "figure" out where Dick stood and I admire that. Danielle was powerhouse that nobody expected, I saw that a mile away! once again I enjoyed another exciting fun season. There is something to be said about just being who you are and the Donatos showed us that! Yeah, for them. I just knew it! I never thought anyone had a chance against them as they say Blood is thicker than water!

I am disgusted to see Dick's abusive behavior accepted by Big Brother. We are trying to find a better day in this world where violence and abusive behavior does not have a place. And yet, we have shows like BB actually promote the nastiness of this man and his dysfuntional daughter. There could be no better example of the apple not falling far from the tree than what we witnessed in this father daughter duo. They should of been eliminated a long time ago. The only good thing that I can see is that the fued between the two will continue as Danielle did not get her way. Needless to say, we are through with Big Brother.

I believe that Dick should have been expelled from the house for his burning of Jen with the cigarette (Jen also should have been removed). I think that Dick clearly cheated in the veto competition in which Jameka was disqualified. The tape showed Dick hiding a blue ball and then spending a lot of time in the area of the tubes.

The way in which Eric was used, totally destroyed the integrity of the game. The producers also manipulated the house guest, especially with the airplane incident. I don't know how BB can keep from getting sued by the players for breach of contract due to Eric's outside influences that even in his words changed the course of the game and left Dick in well beyond his appointed time. What do you guys think?

I cannot wait till next season. This season, no one got booted for breaking the rules. I guess they get more relaxed each time trying to gather more viewers which in turn more revenue. Will someone have to be physically hurt by someone else to get the boot? Not threatened since that will make good tv. As long as no one gets physically hurt, rules can and will be broken. Dick did not get any penalties for his actions, but Jen did just for eating. CBS needs to rethink the next season. The spewing, cursing, racial wording from Dick needs to go and force the rules on people. Burning them with a cigarette and pouring tea on them does constitute assault. I guess since he did not use a knife like in the past season, it is ok. CBS are you listening !! He should have been banned from the house. To me, you lost my viewership this season.
