| Senior Member | ok, last year when Naomi said that they found 815 off the coast of Bali I was really puzzled by that. How in the world could a pilot be that off course. I was so puzzled by that, I made a map ![]() So based on what we knew originally, the pilot left from Sydney to LA, got off course and eventually went down creating the plot for the best damn show on TV. OK, now we have TLE2.0 and Sam has some clues going on about the Sunda Trench by Christmas Island and what's off the cost of Bali??? Yeap, Christmas Island - see google map here - Bali is the Green Arrow. So what is the deal with all this? One way if Lost keeps up with some reality is to wait until day 96 on the island which will be December 26th 2004 when the big earthquake hit and sent the massive tsunami into Indonesia... Surely if the island is in the vicinity of where Naomi said the plane was found and Sam is currently looking, then our beloved castaways would feel some sort of effect from the earthquake and tsunami.

| Senior Member | Thank you... What brought all this up was the pilot told Jack and Kate that they were a 1000 miles off course. So I wanted to see if it was really possible if the plane turned back from it's flight plan to Los Angeles, where that 1000 mile radius would be. If I put it on the tip of Bali which is where Naomi said the wreckage was found, it just did not seem possible or logical for the plane to be that far off course... unless for whatever reason, the plane had a lay over in Italy on it's way to LA So I originally chalked it up to misinformation from Naomi... but now Sam is looking in the same area which makes that little light bulb pop up above my head and yell down at me WTF mate Now I guess the only way that could happen is if time on the plane stopped but the planet continued to rotate until the plane became unfrozen in time and the crash took place after the earth and not the plane shifted positions.

| Senior Member | LOL I guess that's a good thing... you should try this map on for size then... it's too big to post here - it screws up the layout of the forums on my end so I am linking to it MORE DETAILED MAP - CLICK HERE I posted these last year, but no one really seemed to pay much attention and I figured it was just another one of my hairbrained theories

| My theory is that the plane was never headed to LA. The Pilot, including Cindy and maybe a few other people on board (maybe even Libby) were actually planning on going to the island, but Desmond's electromagnetism thing in the hatch caused the plane to crash. It was originally going to land somewhere on the island. That would explain why Cindy went back to the others, and it would explain this as well.

| Hmmm, only problem with that theory is that Sam's girlfriend, Sonya, was a flight attendant, and Sam obviously knows nothing of the Others' plan to go to somewhere other than LA, and in an 8 year relationship, you'd think he'd find out if she were in some secret organization on a random island near Bali. And you'd think, being a flight attendant, she'd realize they weren't going in the right direction.

| Senior Member | That make sense... the other thing that bothers me is when we saw the plane break apart on the island it was extremely low, like it was going in for a landing. Normal flight should be around 30,000 feet, but the plane was clearly not anywhere close to 30,000 feet when we saw it in the opening of s3.
