Launching New Features

"We've been working hard over the summer to get ready for the new TV season. We've received requests for a lot of new features and are rolling out some today! These features include:

*Levels based on Star Points. You'll see your level when you are logged in, in the upper right hand corner of your profile page. We also have a Star Points Hall of Fame to show you the highest ranked users on BuddyTV at (http://buddytv.com/star-points/star-point-leaders.aspx). Currently there is only 1 user at Level 11 and 1 at Level 10. Check to see where you rank!

*Send Gifts. You can use your Star Points to send virtual gifts to your friends. Check out all the humorous gifts at (http://buddytv.com/gifts/gifts.aspx).

*Auctions. Another way to spend Star Points is to bid on auctions to win prizes like T-Shirts and DVD's (http://buddytv.com/auctions/auctions.aspx)

*User Quizzes. Based on popular requests, we've updated this so that you can easily see what your friends scored and what you scored on quizzes that you've taken. (http://buddytv.com/user-quizzes/user-quizzes.aspx)

Congratulations to the Star Points Hall of Fame leaders and good luck in catching up with them and spending your Star Points. Please provide us feedback on the new features and others that you would like to see us add.

I have a question about the whole star points thing. I found the page that tells you all about it, how many points you get for what, how to spend the points (which I think is fun), etc. Then I looked at the leader board to see where I rank. My question is how do you get 17,361,119 points when you only joined on 5/31/08, have only posted 6 times, haven't added any movies, haven't taken personality quizzes and have 40 total trivia points??????

Would someone please give me the link to the site where the whole star points thing is explained - how many points you get for what and so on? I'm confused!
But I already sent a friend Metallicar as a gift, that's certainly a nice feature!

We used to give 1,000 points per invite sent. For people who invited their entire address book via the scraper this added up. This particular person w/ 17 million points invited several thousand people (most likely w/out realizing it). For the users who got their points this way and who haven't been coming back to the site we took their points away. The 17 million point user however has been coming back to the site.
