While Tyra Banks is happy to discuss bathroom habits on her daily talk show, and is frank and candid about her modeling past on America's Next Top Model, she can sometimes be reticent about other elements of her personal life, such as some family matters or romantic relationships. She has not yet spoken publicly about a major development for her family: her brother Devin has been deployed to Iraq. To read the rest, click here.

An Air Force Cadet, as reported above, is one who is still attending the AF Academy, and as such would be an insult to a man who has been in the ASAF for 15 years. God bless all who serve, and show the the respect they deserve, by not referring to a 15 year veteran as a cadet.

I agree entirely with Jeep! With all due respect to the Officer in question, and to Ms. Banks, there is no way he her older brother, a CADET, and going to Iraq. CADETS are students at a Service Acadamy, and as such, they wouldn't be sent to Iraq (nor would they spend 15 years as a student). Also, if he is old enough to be her older brother, then he would be too old to be a Cadet. I believe her brother is serving, and that he's in Iraq. I have no doubt that, despite the fact that she is a world famous super model, that her worries for her brother are any different than mine were for my husband when he was in Iraq, or what mine still are whenever he deploys. What I can't believe is that the author of this story would have such disregard for discovering the actual rank of her brother. Just as I have no doubt that, after 15 years of service, he would be insulted to be refered to as some green wet behind the ears Cadet. That having been said, my prayers go out to him, his fam

I was a 15 year AF veteran before attending OTS. It is not unusual anymore AND it is certainly not impossible (I was 33 at the time of my commission). So they may have a detail or two incorrect. I certainly forgave folks for calling me a "butter bar". Once they found out of my prior record it was a whole different story.

The detail regarding his rank was reported by multiple sources before being published here, as we do cross-check the information. If it is, in fact, incorrect, please excuse the oversight, but know that absolutely no disregard or disrespect towards Banks was intended by the error.
