I think one factor in David Cook's rise in popularity is his changing his hair about half way through the competition. Before he did that, I could hardly look at him while he sang, which was very distracting from his talent. I referred to him the day after performances as "that guy with the bug on his head". His hair literally looked as though he had been working hard labor outside in our hot and humid Florida climate in July, his hair got stuck to his forehead in wet greasy strings and he left if that way. UGH!!! Once he changed it, I was able to see his talent more clearly. That would be about the same time everyone starting noticing that Archie sounded the same no matter what he sang.....ie. THE PHONE BOOK!

Just a couple of more thoughts....Jason was HOT, as usual! Did anyone notice that Carly stood RIGHT BEHIND DAVID C during the celebration? She kept sticking her head from side to side of his to be on camera. She had a good voice and would probably sound good on the radio, but she looks MEAN when she sings, which means no charisma. I love David Hernandez. If he had gotten a chance to develop as DC did, hw could have been great. DA and DC didn't sound too good together...too different to blend. BUT, Archie sounded really good with One Republic. I have been wondering what kind of relevent music he could do, and that is it. They really played down THE song this year. No one sung in Tuesday, and we didn't get to hear it at all till after it was over. Then there was too much celebration to really hear it. It sounded good, though. I'll have to go to Itunes tonight and download it.

I have to disagree with the Carly comment (like others). I admit that Carly's voice is TERRIFIC but a real American Idol can't just rely on their voice. Look at Melinda, who I still say has a 2x voice better than Jordin, and get the spot after her and Blake. Carly's personality and stage presence just didn't stand out for me at all. How can I summarize Carly Smithson? Sadly enough, I can even summarize Syesha better, especially after opera week. What I am trying to say is that if AI was based on voice alone, Carly would be 1st or 2nd. However, it is not. It is based on someone with the whole package, which is undeniably David Cook, who is the winner this year, and Jordin Sparks, who was the winner last year. On the whole package thing, Carly would only be 5th for me (after DC, Archie, Brooke, Jason). Michael Johns on the other hand... he just shouldn't have been eliminated so soon. It was totally unfair. I agree on that one. :P Still, DAVID COOK <3
