American Idol 7: Top 3 Performance Rankings

American Idol needs to rethink their format. FOX, 19 Entertainment, the judges – changes need to be made. Tonight, on the most important American Idol episode of the season, the judges were plain terrible. There was an extended discussion about penguins, Randy and Simon had a round-long pissing contest and Mr. Cowell called the cheesy ballad from Armageddon one of the greatest songs of all-time. Not to mention Paula Abdul, who found amazing new ways to confound the audience. Even if the three judges are under contract for three more seasons, why not just cut them loose before they get even more embarrassing? They clearly don't care all that much anymore. Anyways, it was a fairly lackluster show that will likely make the American Idol final two look exactly like the final two we've been expecting for weeks.

I feel like most of the AI audience is ready for a change in the judges. Does anyone care about Randy and Paula? Though Simon doesn't seem to care anymore, they need to keep him around since he's often the only sane one in the group. But seriously, some judges who could give some legitimate criticism would be nice.

Archuleta has to go, after all this is human competition. He is like eating the same food with no spices for several years in the raw. Awful, even if it is a steak! Go home, come back in a few season and you will rock. Having said that, are you kidding me? Who is going to win then? Cook has no charisma and Saisha is just not a singer, she is a performer. How'bout we get Johns back?

i think archeleta finally cracked, when he switched up to whatever it was that he sang as seconmd song he made himself vulnerable. not so sure his deep fan base wont keep him but for first time, i think he put himself in bottom two along with syesha who sang as if auditioning for broadway or a nightclub. i also think cook's singing of aretha's song was quite impressive and the only songs ive heard all year that i would listen to a second and third tmie have been sung by david cook. but with america being america who knows what the voting will bring. no one is safe now. good luck cook

i also think randy seemed to have an agenda tonight after picking syesha's first song and was putting cook down to prove his choice of song better than simons. it isnt between them and for once i think randy showed bias in his judgements tonight.

enough oscar how is it that when david cook screws it up its because of wrong song choice but when it comes to david a you are just nasty get over it you have been on this poor boys case since you first saw him. Have you ever actually met david at all or are you just being very narrow minded when it comes to young david.

General FYI - DC's first song is from Roberta Flack, not Aretha Franklin. Both of whom are superlative in their own styles!

Tonight was a bit disappointing, I wish David Cook would not scream so much, just sing! I was expecting a little more from him tonight. David Archuleta's vocals were quite stellar, but the songs could have been more interesting.
The judges were a little hard on Syesha, who delivered the first and third songs quite well. And enough about penguins!

I think David Cook's second song sucked. So apparently, he's NOT all that is he? I agree with helenahopkinson2, every time Cook has a rough night you have an excuse for him, but when it's Archuleta you say it's because he's "incapable" and "terrible." STOP making excuses for him. Cook sings rock songs and that's all he'll ever sing. He's a one dimensional guy, and that's all there is to it. Not only that, you say he's original, but is using arrangements found on iTunes really original? Cook looks on iTunes and takes those versions of the song, and doesn't credit the originals. Yes, guys, let's let this original guy win because he SO TOTALLY deserves it. whatever . . .
I think David Archuleta has an amazing voice and has worked enough to earn his win. However, I do feel that no matter who the winner is, the other two will be offered other contracts. They're all good, I just think David Archuleta should win
