David does appear to be sweet natured and naive and I do enjoy his voice. I just hope he doesn't totally choke without his dad there to pull his strings. Even if he winds being a loser on Idol, the show will have done him a WORLD of good by freeing him from his fathers apparent iron rule.

Golly. Now I knd'a hope Dadvid A wins American Idol just so he can legally become an Emmancipated Minor and get the heck away from his dad. David Cook would be better served NOT to win, so he can pursue his carreer on his own terms instead of at the hands of the AI people. He'll do better on his own, like Chris Daughtry has. I had heard some of the rumors about Jeff Archuleta being an iron-fisted stage parent but I didn't think a lot of it was true. I agree that David A exhibits personality traits of an emotionally abused child. I think I'll wish now for David A to win... although, he could still be okay on his own, if someone would step-in and get him away from his parents.

When was psyco dad actually banned? If just today, or even yesterday, he's already done his "damage" for this week's performance and it will be the same ol David. Boring, boring, boring.

I read about his being banned a couple of days ago on an MSNBC website, but its good to get the confirmation. Totally agree that David C would be better off not winning. Watching David A has just been painful; its hard to say if winning would be good for him in the long run or not. I wonder if his dad will be allowed to go backstage on the tour?

Agreed, Strrynight, it's all a ploy to get sympathy for the chosen one. And fresh, new? Nope, saw the same, heard the same on Star Search. He's definitely not my fave and I'd prefer either of the other two.

Dont expect David to change overnight that is just not possible, He has suffered verbal abuse for years by the sounds of it. It will take time for him to gain confidence in himself as person and free of his fathers influence. I would love for him to win but i also believe he would be better off coming second take the pressure off of him and hopefully keep his father away from him.

This is horrible to hear. Poor David. It's unfortunate, because if he's used to his dad being so overbearing, he'll likely choke on stage this week. Which is really, really heartbreaking.

i knew something was wrong with poor david, he always seemed a bit afraid when he goes onstage. he's probably scared of what his dad would do to him if he messes up or gets a bad review. im the same way so i know what he's going through, he probably gets yelled at and is turned into this string puppet..poor david but that still doesnt dismiss the fact that ur performances are getting a bit boring, u have to step up ur game man

I have a dad just like that so i can sympathize with the poor guy. Sure hope he's able to step out of his dads shadow and do great. =)
