On next Tuesday's American Idol Top 3 performance show, each of the final three singers (David Cook, David Archuleta and Syesha Mercado) will perform three songs each. The Top 3 week is a notorious one for the remaining singers. Not only are they faced with the task of singing more songs than they've ever sung before, they have to take a trip back to their hometown for an impromptu concert. When you add the additional pressure of, you know, simply being in the American Idol final three, you realize that the three finalists are in for a tough week. Which got me thinking: which of the remaining singers is best prepared to endure the rigors of the next week? To read the rest, click here.

| I think David Cook has the most potential to rise above the 'pack' - I use that loosely as the pack is only made of two other people.

I love the David Archuleta theory Oscar but here is why it won't happen. You know if he struggles this week the judges(probably Simon) will say " I think you are in trouble this week" and then his fans will go crazy on the phone lines and blow everyone else out of the water.

I really doubt the David Achuleta thing is going to happen because 1) we all know Syesha doesn't have nearly a big enough fanbase as the two Davids, 2) even if Syesha performs her best she might not get enough votes anyway, 3) Jason Castro's fans are most likely voting for Archie now,and 4) Archie's fans adore what he does no matter how repetitive it is (I have a sister who is a big Archie fan). I actually want the 'one song the idol pick, one song the producer pick, and one song the judge pick' deal since if Simon gets David Cook and picks a song for him, David Cook will rock out for sure! From my AI memory for the past few years, whoever Simon picks the song for (Katherine Mcphee, Jordin Sparks) doesn't get voted out. Go Simon and go David Cook.

oscar: as you stated yourself, you are an Arch hater. Even if you hadn't written it, anyone who even occasionally glances at your articles knows you are obsessed with criticising Archie. So, just write your love note to Cook and drop the pretense that you're actually trying to write an article about their song connundrum. You're just looking for another excuse to rave about Cook & bash Archuleta. So be it; but why pretend that you're actually analyzing anything?

Based on the judges pcks so far they all could be in trouble.

i like the theory but i still doubt archuleta will get voted off.. no matter how bad he sings, he could go up there at just give like a speech instead of singing, he would still get an insane amount of votes.. we're still gonna get a davids final and as much as i hate to say it, a david a victory

Given the level of commitment of the Davids' fans, and Syesha's consistent (though often undeserved) last place in the polls, which suggests her fans are either less committed or fewer, I can't really see her making it past this week. She does probably have the advantage on the judge's choice for her (posted all over the place) which she will no doubt ace, whereas the other two face more of a challenge to make theirs believable/interesting. However, since the top 9 (or maybe 10) onward, the person eliminated was not in the bottom the previous week, and if that trend holds next week, Oscar might just get his wish.

i think the article is right. david archuletta has that one note tendency which makes his singing redundant. i think people vote for him because he looks adorable and cute on stage and it doesnt even matter if he sounds the same.

It doesn't matter how any of them perform next week. We all know Syesha's going home.
