For the first time in weeks and weeks, there is an absolute, prohibitive favorite to be eliminated tonight on American Idol.  Thanks to one abysmal performance and another one scarred by forgotten lyrics, Jason Castro is probably on his way off the grand American Idol stage.  Some of you are probably thinking “it's about time.”  Fair enough.  Castro isn't your typical Idol performer – not blessed with a big voice, an upbeat personality or a rabid desire for stardom, Castro's ascension was more or less an anomaly.  That doesn't mean I don't like him, but I understand those who have been calling for his head.  Both John Kubicek and I are picking the dread-locked wonder to be eliminated tonight, and we discuss that and a whole boatload of other topics on our most recent edition of John vs. Oscar.

It's unfortunate that it is Jason's time...

He's my favorite.... Cook is good, but hes nothing like Castro...

My hope is that America will somehow decide to get rid of Syesha and Jason can stay one more week!

Jason's time has been up for for a while now. He should have never made it this far. The final 4 should have been Carly, Michael Johns, David Cook and David Archuletta.

I hope Jason stays. I wouldn't care too much if Syesha went home instead. At least Jason is entertaining and funny, Syesha makes me yawn! Jason also has such an awesome style of singing. He's unique, we have already seen many Syesha's in the past. I

Despite his subpar performance last night, I think Jason's fans are dedicated enough (and good enough at using alternative means of voting that wouldn't register on certain websites) that he has a good chance of making the top 3. He's bombed in previous weeks (Fragile? Memory?) and sailed through. There is hope yet. Also, the producers clearly want him gone, and who wants them to get their wish?

The season is flat this year. Stand alone the contestants do okay. Not a single *wow* moment - yet.

As a group - no, no, no. Can't imagine hot tickets sales for this Idol tour.

Personally, I find the swaying hands in front of the stage annoying. I want to give my attention to the performer.

Seems no one wants to win. Appears that losing nets the bigger contract and flexibility. Maybe they should change the payoff next year so the win is more attractive.

My vote's on David Cook. But an Idol win may be his vote.

Just my observation...

I thought Jason did fine... it's his folksy way. Forgetting the lyrics might be his downfall though... can't do that at this stage in the game. So, I understand why people think he doesn't try hard. He's more a coffee house guy in my opinion. And I'd go see him anytime! I also hope he gets to stay. I do wish Archie would go home. He won't, but I can hope!

WELL THE WAY I SEE IT THAT IF ONE CONTESTENT CAN BE FORGIVEN FOR FORGETTING HER LINES IN A SONG THEN JASON SHOULD BE FORGIVEN TO. JASON DID NOT STOP AND START OVER EATHER HE KEEP GOING TO MAKE IT LOOK GOOD. SYESHA WAS NOT THAT GOOD OF A SINGER LAST NIGHT. I THINK IT WILL COME DOWN TO 3 MAN FIGHT.
