And then there were four. Jason Castro was not expected to make it this far. The dread-locked, laid back Texan wasn't featured once during the audition episodes (usually a bad sign) and even when he made the Top 12, I'm not sure anybody thought he'd outlast the likes of Carly Smithson and Brooke White. Same goes for Syesha Mercado - she was "supposed" to be eliminated weeks ago. Yet, she's steadily improved and sung well enough to forever become a part of American Idol lore. American Idol is winding down, folks, and the favorites remain David Cook and David Archuleta. While it was once assumed that Archuleta would win American Idol going away, Cook has been picking up momentum for weeks. Tonight, the theme has something to do with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which should provide a broad base of available songs, and hopefully increase the quality of the performances. Paula, get your notes ready, because here comes your American Idol top 4.To read the rest, click here.

I have to agree, Cook did better than the rest on the first song.. But that pretty much sums up that the first round sucked for being only 4 contestants left. Felt to me like the first 4 voted off were singing. No one brought it

I am about to say something I've never said before about Lil David. After round one I think he did the best. I would of gave him a 9 out of 10. A half pt. ahead of David Cook. Jason was the weakest with his predictable song choice of 'I Shot Sheriff' by Bob Marley. Syesha's song choice was mega predictable but I liked it still. Performance wise was lacking. She was consistent. Didn't hate it but didn't love it. Just got back from commericial break. More comments in a few.

First round sucked. I loved David Cook in the second song (Welcome back, David Cook). Please tell me why Jason Castro is still on the show, b/c I have idea. I shudder to think how he will sound on the second song. I think the only people who are voting for him are the anti-Idol website fanatics (seriously).
