Paula Abdul is not good at her job.  This is non-negotiable.  There are millions upon millions of American Idol fans, though you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who disagrees with the above statement.  Abdul has consistently under-performed, been a source of comedy and ridicule, and has endured a multitude of embarrassing moments on national television in front of the biggest audience in the world.  Her most recent, and highly-publicized, misstep occurred last week when she critiqued a performance during the live American Idol broadcast she had only seen during dress rehearsal.  It was a bizarre moment, though I didn't find it as big of a deal as others.  Some are calling for her head, saying that the mistake is grounds for termination.  In a vacuum, it wasn't that big a deal, and she should not be removed from American Idol simply for that one instance.  What people seem to be over-looking, however, is that this latest flub is just one in a series of incidents that have shown Abdul to be an inept employee, one not qualified for her job and a person whose continued employment by TV's number one franchise is baffling.

Paula has been on this show for 7 years and it has been nr 1 for 7 years. She is a great judge. Give her the respect she deserves please. You need to stop with these personal attacks towards her.

and by the way. nobody is forcing You to watch american Idol. If people did not like Paula, they would have tuned out years ago. If the chemistry wasnt working, the show would not still be nr 1 in season 7. so, it obviously is working.

Give it a rest already. The show would be nothing without Paula. What would people write about if she wasn't there? Which shade of gray is Simon wearing this week? Puh-lease. I'd tune out.

Idol works because of the combination of Paula, Randy, and Simon. I know Paula is often incoherent, but the show has a formula that works. There are other things the show can do (e.g., mentors who are not in their 50s and 60s, fewer theme nights), but Paula stays.

Paula has been in show business for many years and knows what she's talking about. Yes, she's a little ditzy sometimes, but that's part of her charm and where would we be with just negative comments? I, for one, couldn't imagine American Idol without Paula Abdul and apparantly neither can the higher ups that run the show!!!!

So it's Oscar tips sacred cows week here on Buddy TV!

Should Paula be fired? Absolutely. We currently have a contest on which the judges don't judge. I'd like her replaced - Randy too for that matter - with a judge who points out ALL of the technical mistakes a singer makes: flubbed lyrics, timing issues, inappropriate emotions (ie: smiling thru Jolene), breathing mid-phrase, etc... Paula's inanities are worse than Randy's cliche's, but he's adding nothing at this point either. And new judges might breathe some life into this clunker.

I'd rate limiting calls per phone slightly higher than this as an improvement, but it's very high.

I am so embarrassed for her. SHe is a very attractive woman but it is time for her to go. I don't know if she's ill, drunk or high But I cringe evertime she opens her mouth...Also when she stands up and bops around I cringe for her. Leave gracefully Paula & please don't compare her to that poor horse, that's a tragedy.

It's the Paula Abdul train-wreck effect. You need to turn in to see what idiotic thing she does this week. For next season, it would be nice to see something similar to "So You Think You Can Dance". Make Simon & Randy permanent judges and have a third guest judge that changes from week to week.
