In my opinion all the best singer are gone now beside David Cook. The rates started slipping when Danny Noriega got basically force off. If he was still on AI it would come down to DC & him ! But that's just my opinions as well

Prosper..It serves yourself right Nigel Lythgoe << the producer of American idol ..He thought he was screwing over Michael johns, but instead screwed over his own show LMFAO

There is a cascading effect also: fewer viewers makes the speed-dial spuds more effective.

I don't think David Archuleta is to blame. I think the tween and sympathy voters are to blame. Because of the combination of these two, it has caused better performers to leave the show earlier than the weaker performers (Carly and Michael over Jason and Brooke, Kristy over David Hernandez, etc) It's a lot more of a popularity competition than a talent competition - more so than previous years.
If Jason Castro manages to make the top 2 or 3 over David Cook, then i'm finished with this show for good. That would be the very last straw.

Agree completely with NotaTeenageGi2. This is the only way they can save this sinking ship, one phone, one vote.

You are the worst writer I have read. To blame David Archuletta or his fans is so stupid. I will never read another thing you write, you are so biased it reaks. Everyone can have an opinion but you are trying to get people to dislike him just becuase you do. You are totally pathetic and I hope all his fans vote him to victory. YOU ARE THE WORST!!!!!!!!!!

glgio, calm down. Oscar isn't the worst writer ever or his blog wouldn't be so popular. I'd rather read his article, tongue-in-cheek or serious, than listen to some of the drek that David A. sings...but then you won't see this because you are never going to read this blog again.

I actually like that theory, Oscar - it seems reasonable and it explains quite a few things.

Like rickypo2 stated earlier, I think that the point at which Michael Johns was "voted off" the show was a big wake-up call for many viewers. It turned many people off, as the slip in ratings show, and I'm sure not everyone was able to fully believe he had been let go so easily.

I think the biggest thing Idol can do to boost its ratings is limit the amount of votes per line. If your theory is right, and they are a smaller population of viewers, this won't cause those who vote non-stop to abandon the show right there and then. In fact, it will probably bring back those viewers who were disillusioned by the wrong eliminations this season.

You're totally right, Oscar. It's a very good theory.
