American Idol finally bucked the trend tonight.  The elimination that came during tonight's Idol results show was not a surprise by any stretch of the imagination.  One could argue that the lack of a surprise was the surprise, but I wonder what this might mean for the last few weeks of the season.  Will everything continue to go as planned, with the Davids facing off on the American Idol finale?  Or, will a Daughtry-esque elimination rock the Idol world?  We shall see.  As for tonight, the only surprise was a certain dread-locked human's omission from the bottom two, but that may only be a surprise to people who don't find Mr. Castro pretty.  Neil Diamond and a British pop star were on hand as well.

I'm glad Brooke is gone, but I still think it should have been Jason. I know he has his fans, but how anyone can find him even slightly appealing is baffling to me.

Don, you just don't understand the appeal of laid back stoners. Also, while Archuleta has most of the tween girls, the older (16-22) ladies probably prefer Castro's brand of rebellious cuteness. Plus, he's legal. Archuleta is a little boy, at least Castro is the kind of loser you date when you're a senior in high school or a freshamn or sophomore in college.

the next few weeks dont matter since jason and syesha are next to go. glad to see brooke finally leave she had her nine lives and enjoyed it. still think cook is far above rest and is only one who sang anything this year i would like to hear again. the rest were as simon would say forgettable.

It's kind of hard to believe that Syesha is in the top 4 when you think about it. Its not that she can't sing, but just after seeing her in the bottom 3 in the top 12 and so many more times, I never would have imagined she would come this far

Sir Castro can not sing forcefully. His breathing lacks depth. He should be the next elimination choice.

I think Jason's appeal is wider than teenage girls and dread lock lovers. My mom (who is neither) absolutely loves him (though not as much as David Cook, as with all the ladies in my family spanning all ages) and votes for him a lot. He is very charming, his studio recordings are surprisingly good (and sell very well), but he just isn't the consistent, committed performer Cook is, or the adorable little boy Archie is.

I'm tired of reading about teenage girls carrying Jason through. I'm 34 and I love this guy. I love his voice and style. He's appealing to the older women who have taste. I'm sick of writers on these sites being biased and unfair in their assessments. Stop with the teeny bopper voting excuse. It just aint' so.
