There are those who are believers and there are those who are not.  David Archuleta has become as divisive a figure on American Idol as Sanjaya Malakar was last year.  After last night (especially after last night), American Idol viewers either love him or hate him.  There is no in-between.  Being a well-known Archuleta hater, I can't fathom how anyone could have watched last night's American Idol and thought he was anywhere near good.  But, I can't see into the minds of his fans – music is annoyingly subjective that way.  In our newest podcast, John Kubicek and I spent a lot of time eviscerating Archuleta's performance last night and have some differing thoughts on who exactly will be eliminated on tonight's American Idol results show.

Agreed..not even having Syesha in the bottom two is wishful thinking. She doesn't deserve to be there, but will be, just like in the last several weeks. Simon's comment was ridculous. They have already annointed David A. as who they want to win. Anyone else is OK, but David A. is always "HOT HOT WHITE HOT!" in their book. He's got a "nice" voice I admit. In 2 minute snippets it's nice, over an entire CD it will be monotonous.

Jason Castro SHOULD be the one going home, but because of the demographics of who is voting, it could be Brooke, who should be in the bottom two with Jason. However, she seems to have a pretty strong fan base, so it might be Syesha, who has had her problems in the past, but the last two weeks has really done much better.

From the question above "Who will go home tonight?", at least 50% (when I voted) believed that Jason will go home, and I agree with that 50%, but perhaps the question should read, "Who do you think should go home tonight?" because who I think and who does go home does not always agree for I felt that Jason and Brooke should have gone many weeks before. And last week I certainly believed that both should have gone, but they were not in the bottom two. But Brooke did have one OK song and one poor performance, and Jason had two poor performances so he should go. We will see. It might be Syesha as she does not seem to have a fan base for many do not like her--not sure why.

It's times like this I wish they had a negative vote, so instead of voting to keep your favourite you could vote to send someone home. Archuletta would be gone.

Sadly negative voting would just result in sites like VFTW encouraging people to vote against the best. It's not Democratic, because if it was, "Not Bush" would have won the 2004 presidential election. As for Syesha, DialIdol is saying that she is number one this week. And given that DialIdol had Carly in last place last week, I'm going to start listening to what that data has to say.

I think Syesha is a goner. The theme for eliminations this season seems to be that the person who doesn't deserve to go is the one who gets booted. Jason deserves it this week, so surely it will by Syesha instead.

Yeah, that's part of it, but there's a bit more to it than just that.

The candidates with even a remote chance of being eliminated tonight are everybody except David Cook - yes, even David Archuleta. What I've noticed happening with the voting this season is that whoever has the best performance will inevitably be safe, but, on the other hand, whoever has the worst performance will also be safe due to sympathy votes. Remember the last few eliminations and you'll find it hold true.

So, if that holds true yet again, David Cook will be safe since he was the best last night by far. That also means that Jason will probably safe, as he gave the worst performances in the eyes of the judges.

So that leaves us with Brooke, Syesha, and David A. David A. has the inexplicably devoted fan base, so he will probably stick around another week.
