I like the idea that people are putting forward to raise the age of the contestants. I can't believe it but I'm beginning to feel sorry for David A. AIAddict is right. He looks tired and scared and totally out of his league with some of the more seasoned idol contestants. Jason also looks to me like he's ready to go home, like get this over with already. Unfortunately I still think Syesha is out tonite.

David Cook is the only reason why I'm hooked to American Idol, and I'm sure he'll be the next American Idol coz I firmly believe that America is not deaf and blind and cheesy...rock on, David!!!

I mostly agree with Oscar's ranking except I'd probably switch 3 and 4. The performances don't matter anyway, Syesha is going home. I've ranted about how crappy the singers were, now let's rant about how crappy the show was! Neil Diamond week was a disaster; he added nothing and once again the contestants had to sing songs from 15 years before they were born. Neither the singers nor much of the audience can relate to the Neil Diamond songbook, though there are some decent tunes therein. The judges have become downright unprofessional. Are they tired of doing this? Randy has nothing to say anymore but some cliche involving "I dunno dude", "not your best", "that was hot" or "da bomb" - no real critique at all. Paula needs to be fired, unprepared and can't even pay attention to a 1 hour show. Simon is bored. Seacrest looks bored too; it's like even he has given up trying to whip up any enthusiasm for this pathetic season. And no matter how many mistakes Archuleta m

And no matter how many mistakes Archuleta make they still pimp him. Neil Diamond week: a new low!

Another site mentioned the possibility that Paula had based her evaluations on the dress rehersal performances and when Ryan threw her a curve, she started reading from her notes. I think that's very plausible.

That same site also seemed to think that Idol producers write the judges their notes, and Paula flubbed her pre-scripted lines. Could there be an Idol conspiracy?

This is the first season that I've realized the songs are truncated to 1 1/2 minutes. It only seems like they're singing the entire version. It highlights the confidence Idol producers have in their contestants: not much. They'd rather fill time with Ryan-Simon !@#!@ put-downs and moronic questions from viewers. Fact is, none of these "performers" could possibly interest an audience for an entire concert, let alone an entire song. I saw a Chris Daughtry performance on PBS and it was insanely dull. Think of sitting through a David Archuleta concert for two hours. There's no personality to any of these people, no real edge or interest, no wit. You develop your performing chops on the road, night after night playing dives behind chicken wire. The smoke and mirrors of Idol is but a mirage. As for Paula and Randy, they're obviously scripted in their comments. Simon himself is barely competent, but it's the old vaudeville trick of putting two complete flops before the headliner to make him

| GarnageHall puts it best. With the omission of Carly and Michael, most of this final five is mediocre at best. I say most because David Cook is the only one who can actually hold his own against most of the past final five in Idol history.
